That's for early test AARs and fiction.
For us common mortals, release will come late 2019/early 2020.

Steve has a life outside Aurora, and there's still a long way to go. My guess, based on how things have gone in the past, is late 2018/early 2019 and even that could be overly optimistic.

And distractions come along, such as Subnautica at the moment :)
-
When will they wise up and add multiplayer to that game. . .

If you only should pick one Sci Fi game to play the last year you picked the right one! Any delays due to Subnautica are totally OK if you ask me ;D

Damn, I never actually get to play this or Dwarf Fortress as I am always thinking I will just wait for the next update to come out. I am missing it though. Might have to cave in and play 7. 10.
How dramatic are the changes going to be for the first release of the C# version? Is it more or less a port of the old one but with a few bug fixes and QoL improvements?
-
there is a thread with 6 pages just listing the changes, its quite different
-
It's a complete overhaul.

Complete overhaul BUT...little idea: better u play 7.10. Then u become more confident next version. 2019 late...or 2020 .:)

Two days, 23 hours played for me...
-
is it that good? considering a purchase, but I like the old battletech games the new one recently were just flashy but meatless, so to speak.

It is challenging. You need to pay attention to cover and your tactics. It's turn-based, so you do have some time to think out your turns. I've restarted 4 times, just trying out things.
-
Just Jumped onto the Mechscom bandwagon. I'll let you know what I think of it in a few days when it finally downloads.

Hue.
Its a great game though, its good to finally be commanding a lance again.

Excellent game - completely addicted (not great for C# Aurora I know).
Best moment so far was having 15 turns to complete a mission and doing it with the last Mech to fire on the fifteenth turn :)
Some great battles while badly outnumbered and outmassed. Team work among your Mechs is key and don't overlook the benefit of weapons with extra stability damage. A lot of kills when I knock down a Mech and then get a free called shot.
I will try to get back to Aurora soon :)
-
God that timed mission. I also cleared it last round, when I realized I wouldn't make it unless I just ignored the surviving enemies, and sprinted my nearest mech, my heavy, right up towards the objective. Then the rest of my lance proceeded to perform a series of flawless shots, blowing away the remaining resistance, with two rounds to go.
Then the game moved over to free move since I'd killed everything, and ticked down one round without letting me move my heavy again. Ended up making a save just in case I had to scum missed shots because man, that would have been bullsmeg.

Ive play 2 hour in Battletech.
Refunded.
Not awesome.
Only decent.

I look forward to C# 2020.
(Coming soon in 2021.)
-
Well worth the delay to C# in my opinion. It's the game many Battletech fans have been waiting years for.

I wish. But sadly I don't think C# Aurora will bring in hordes of BattleTech fans.
(Yes, I know what you actually meant.)

Good God I can't wait for C# Aurora, the wait is just tormenting.
Ever since I started playing Aurora many years ago, it made every other 4x game completely obsolete in my eyes. Not being able to determine the capabilities, weaponry and equipment of my starships feels like I'm playing a game strealined and made with the least effort, it's almost insulting. In any of the games such as Sword of the Stars, Distant Worlds, Stellaris, Endless Legend and such, I feel like everything's too easy. Colonizing your first planet should be a great challenge, not a mundane press of a button.
Not to mention the technologies, Aurora feels like the only 4x game that allows you to develope your own naval doctrine built around technological focus of your choosing. Focusing on "conventional" weaponry such as railguns and missiles is as viable as going energy weapons, as long as you build your tactics and strategies accordingly. Stellaris is the biggest offender of this in my opinion since you really can't practice "stand-off" missile engagement, because the A.I will fly your ships into energy/railgun range regardless.
I have tried drowning my misery by focusing on work and other videogames, but they're losing their effect gradually.
Right now I'm playing Hearts of Iron 4 with "Darkest Hour" modpack for extra challenge to keep me distracted, hopefully it'll keep me occupied for couple of months.

What happened with the battletech RPG was a tragedy, but perhaps after the PC game and later Mechwarrior 5 brings the spotlight back a new better attempt will be made to bring back the tabletop. Or perhaps another pc game which similates the tabletop closer, perhaps a grand strategy game. Paradox did publish Battletech, Im sure they would love to take a crack at it. theres so many factions and time periods they can crank out DLC for XD.

That doesn't go without saying that those grand strategy games aren't meant to be that in depth. To be honest for example take CMANO, sure you have control over individual units, you can set individual tactics, however its not something that most people who play HoI 4, EUIV, or Stellaris would pick to play, the same with SoaSE, Gal Civ, etc. Those individual games (latter ones) are made to appeal to a wider consumer base. The level of depth of Aurora (and also CMANO) would scare off most people who aren't willing to spend more than half an hour learning a game unfortunately.
-
CMANO? Not getting for what game that stands for...

It's that.
Modern day Aurora-depth battles in pausable/speedupable real time, basically.
-
CMANO is an excellent game... If Steve has not played it he should. Might get some inspiration for some features he could copy from that game. Especially in how ship management and formation is setup and used.
