My civilian shipping lines do not want to transport anything to my new interstellar colony. They had no problem delivering colonists and installations to my previous one, but they simply will not do anything for the new one. The new one is actually much closer in terms of round trip km, and there are two way jump gates everywhere. Anyone know anything about why civilians might not want to deliver to a particular place?
-
How many jumps away is it? Ie how many jump points does a ship have to pass through to get to the new colony?
-
I'm having similar trouble with my civs sticking around Earth with "move to Earth trade location" as their orders for over a year.
However I believe it's because my Mars colony is far too small to generate any trade.
As far as your problem I'm not sure. How big is the colony?

I have that trouble from time to time but as my colonies start generating trade it goes away so I am pretty sure that is all it is.

Just one, same as the previous colony.

have you set up any transport orders for them? if they can't complete them or they are not balanced civ ships can get stuck eg 100 supplied 200 requested after the 100 is completed the request is still in the que to be done before new orders are to be done.

How many people are in the colony? What is its colonial cost? How much infrastructure do you have there?
-
Here's the skinny:
Colony cost x2
Current Infrastructure: 140
Current population supported by infrastructure: 0.70m
Current population: 0.56m
Current outstanding contracts: Demand x10 Construction Factory
Earth has: Supply x10 Construction Factory
As far as I can tell, all other outstanding contracts are balanced between supply and demand (is there some master screen that shows all of them?)
It has been nearly 10 years, and no civilian ship has visited the colony either to fulfill a contract or drop off colonists. Civilian ships have had no trouble visiting my other colony, which is also one jump away. There is no hostile presence in the system. There is a two-way jumpgate in place.

Huh. I am not sure. I assume that Earth has at least 10 construction factories and your civilian shipping has at least one freighter. Are they doing other routes instead? You might want to just spend time with your own freighters and move the factories and more infrastructure that way.

Has their been combat and civilian shipping losses in the system or systems on the way?
Civilian shipping will avoid systems with recent losses unless you can provide enough military protection in that system.
-
Update: the civies finally got around to fulfilling those contracts - seven years after they were posted. Much of that intervening time was spent with freighters sitting empty, so the mystery remains.
-
Can I guess that your new colony had more than 5 million pop by the time the freighters started moving again? Just a hunch.

I'm not sure , but it's possible. What's special about 5 million?

Colonies start producing trade goods at a population of 3 Million and really pick up at 5 Million. So those two population points are where Civilian Commercial ships tend to start to take notice of trade routes, in my experience at least.

My mars colony has 2 million people and 2 ships sitting on "move to earth trade location", during a test of the same game they started moving again somewhere around the 5 million population level. The odd thing is that previously both ships had moved some installations I had queued but after they were done they just started waiting to trade.
