Error 3201 seems to cover a very brad range of problems in Visual basic, but it seems overflows or database errors are the root cause. Im thinking maybe there was a typo in an officer name in your selected theme, or a theme selected by an NPR race.
Try starting a new game with the same theme, or then with a different theme.

Look for any commanders that have an apostrophe in their name.

Righto, will do thanks.

Just to let you know that this was a clean install using default settings (United Kingdom theme with English commanders).  But maybe it was the NPR that caused the problem.

Thanks for the info.
