I found the idea just too cool, now I feel like if I dont send it to be criticized in public I might put one of those protecting every sistem with colonies. it might already be too late when you see this. please help me guys. Its expensive as hell. I could probably make several missile cruisers with the same build points.

It's hard to stealth any large ship, you still have over 1000 thermal emission there wen running at full power.

yes, but at a reasonable speed of 3000 km/s this ship would appear as a 2600 ton frigate with a 250 thermal. By the time a raider got close enough to pick it up on thermal, you could go to full speed and engage with the rail guns.

indeed my friend indeed, thats why its just so cool, its a huge jumpscare, having a huge ship apear out of nowhere just some 20 million km from where you are, and then it pops up shields, triples its speed and charges your face oh god I am so excited

You might want to add some active sensors so that it can actually shoot at things. The surprise of having it pop out of nowhere might become more of a mild amusement when its only usable weapon is a staring contest. Otherwise, though, it looks quite cool, if expensive (as cool things often are).

it has thermal sensors, and although they are not the best, I think they are good enough, also, its meant for defense of populated sistems, which in turn means I will have several deep space tracking stations and a couple of missile PDC's that come with powerfull sensors of their own, so I think this pretty much ofsets the disadvantage of not having active sensors. Also you cant be stealthy waving a huge flashlight around. when you are going stealth and are using active sensors, you need not to put the ative sensor on your fighting ship, but rather on small (or tanky) scouts, away from the stealth ships or else you might just be caught on missile sensors and lose the element of surprise.
your criticism is very valid, and if it were to operate solo I would agree with you, but considering the role this ship fills...
I might make a non-stealth version too... with long range and huge sensors, and lasers instead of railguns! swipe all missiles away savagely charging head on... sounds just as fun as stealth.

You could include a very small active sensor, and only go active when you get close to the enemy. That way, you don't waste too much tonnage and can rely on the thermal sensor for long-range spotting. That's especially viable since you're not using missiles, where you need a long-range sensor to fire effectively. A tiny, res-1 sensor would allow beam-range fire as well as let you use the railguns for improvised missile defense.

as far as I know, thermal sensors can detect missiles too... I will have to play test that. but I suppose I could get rid of a couple of shields if it comes to that

IIRC, you can't fire on thermal contacts. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you need an active sensor contact to be able to target a ship.

That applies to missiles too, I believe. Although, looking at the design again, I noticed there is CIWS, which does not need a sensor to fire at missiles, so sensors might not be necessary if you have a spotter ship nearby.

You can fire at waypoints. If your missiles have thermal sensors too you might get lucky.

dont make this ship.
I used to be good for minerals. had over 20k gallicite on stock. It was geting bigger and keeping up with ship production. 2 ninjas and a couple fighters later I have 0 gallicite, and stoped everything i was doing to get more. The annual cost of maintenence per ship is bigger than the entirety of my missile destroyers combined. I regret absolutely nothing. my economy has colapse under the weight of the wild dream that Stealth Battlecruisers are. We are now an impoverished but proud people. We regret nothing and we will eventually rebuild our economy, rising again, stronger than ever.

I consider stealth mostly for sensor vessels and other ships that can't split their mission tonnage. For offensive craft, the effect can be had more cheaply by splitting up the weapon package, possibly onto FACs/fighters.
CIWS would cease to be effective, but the example ship is fast enoug that 10cm railguns would be just as effective and much more flexible.
TBH, I'm not even sure what tactical advantage this gets from stealth. Missiles will comfortably outrange it and defences aren't great for the cost. Beam combat will occur at ranges far too short for stealth to matter.
Also, slow-firing railguns don't strike me as attractive weapons.

Oh no the ship sucks and I was always aware of that, me doing 4 of them is basically the in game equivalent of a very abusive relationship. But the concept is too cool. I made it as best as I could because I just couldn't live without it.
But anyway, the idea was never to be stealthy at beam range, but rather to try and jumpscare any enemies trying to outrange my missile PDCs and try to score kills that way.
If the enemy happens to have below average sensors I might end uponly showing up at a couple million kilometers, since the TCS ends up being only 2600 tons...
