« on: August 30, 2012, 07:29:21 AM »The 2025 started with another good news, UNCC Galileo confirmed the presence of TN minerals even on Mars.
This obviously implied that the expansion of humanity in the solar system was a must. This lead to the proliferation of new projects for spacific needs vessels, in fact, along with cargo ships and freighters, projects was made for passenger liners and colony ships, able to transport colonists on nearby planets.
This "revolution" was boosted by the private industry interest in these projects, that allow the UNSC to sell the license to build star vessels to major corporations and organizations on Earth.
In a decade, the world was greatly changed thanks to the TN minerals introduction. The technological growth was exponential along with the profit opportunities granted by space travel businesses and mining interests.
The Consortium influence on the UN became enormous, it's businesses became the focal point of the UN meetings, and it seemed that rather than being a branch of the United Nations, the Consortium started to eat the organization from the inside.
2025
The geological team dropped on Mars from the Challenger shuttle founded a new deposit of Vendarite, making the colonization of the red planet at this point crucial. Four newly built C-25 class cargo ship started to transport automated mines to the planet. These complexes required a very little technical team to operate, allowing even the mining of planets with minimal of absent human habitability.
The martian operation was supervised by Elizarova Nikitin, assigned as planetary governor from the Consortium chairman Stephanie Page.
In November and later in December, two new geological survey vessel, the Cassini and the Copernicus, started the survey respectively of the remaining planets and moons and of the asteroids of the system, replacing the Galileo and allowing it to return to Earth after a mission endured more than one year.
The Galileo commander, Captain Bekker, was awarder with the Distinguished Service Medal for fulfilling it's mission, and he was appointed as the head of the Survey Office of the UNSC Space Operations Command. In the meantime, the Challenger shuttle with it's specialized GeoTeam reach the surface of Io, a Jupiter moon, that discovered previously as mineral rich by the Galileo.
March 2026
Four new C-25 cargo ships was launched, bringin the C-25 fleet to 8 elements, helping to transport infrastructure and automated mines to Mars and Venus. The 8 C-25 was subdivided in two fleets (CFL 1 and CFL 2, Cargo FLeet) and was managed by the Logistic Department of the UNSC Space Ops Office.
August 2026
Mining colonies estabilished on Io and on asteroid MX-83
September 2026
The first Orbital Habitat, the Ark H01, was finished on Earth. It will be transported to Luna with a special designed Tug allowing space tourism and colonization of the Earth satellite.
November 2026
The UNCC Cassini discovered that Titan is an eligible source of Trans-Newtonian minerals and the Consortium started the plans for colonization.
The UN doubled the funds for the Consortium, approving a significant increase in personnell, and the UNSC Security Forces Office was authorized to recruit forces for securing the colonies.
December 2026
The first two human colony ships were built: the UNCC Genesis and the UNCC Exodus. Each of these huge ships was able to bring a maximum of 100,000 citizens between colonies.
February 2027
The first civilian shippiung line, Kerr Services, started it's service bringing infrastructure from earth to Mars
June 2027
The Galileo Geological Survey Vessel was upgraded to the "Plus" variant, that introduced better survey sensors. This modifications quadrupled the survey capabilities of the ship but increased the ship's mass causing a loss in speed.
Along with the Galileo Plus, the Consortium started the building of orbital terraformers, these ships owned athmosphere processors able to alter a planet environment. Their imminent deployment will be on Mars, trying to change its athmosphere to a more Earth-like one.
