1/1/906 to 10/16/909 (5)
« on: March 22, 2008, 04:40:18 PM »
2/1/906   The first three Strug colony ships are launched.  They immediately begin shuttling Strug colonists to Home A-V.

6/12/906   The Strug freighter fleet begins transferring mining complexes to A-V.  The population on the colony world is now 4.3 million, and plans are being made to manufacture more infrastructure so that the population can be increased even further.

12/4/906   The second Archeron Catena meson defense PDC is completed on Strug Home.

2/17/907   Telescopes and other surveillance devices indicate that the Colonists on the Sister are building a significant number of objects in orbit, however, the telescopes cannot determine the nature of the objects or the exact number.  The government consistently denies the military permission to make a close pass to the Sister or to activate their active sensors to gather more information.  The government?s position continues to be one of ?pincers off? as far as the Colonists are concerned, and that is not likely to change as long as the Colonists do not interfere in Strug activities.

10/13/907   For the past several years the construction capacity of Strug Home has been devoted to many different projects, including a massive expansion of the home world?s research capacity, significant expansions of the Planetary Defense Command, and the establishment and expansion of the colony on Home A-V.  Now, however, all efforts are diverted to the construction of automated mines to be transported to the mining colony on the twelfth moon of planet twelve.  Duranium is in critically short supply, and expanding the mining colony is the best way to increase supplies.  Expanding the mining colony will accelerate the rate at which the moon is depleted, though, so alternate supplies will have to be found.  For now, though, the Strug focus on alleviating their short-term needs.

8/26/908   Construction of new automated mining complexes is suspended on Strug Home due to shortages in duranium.  Instead, work begins on converting existing mining complexes to automation.  This is significantly cheaper than new construction, and it is hoped that enough new automated mining complexes can be produced to boost production of duranium on moon twelve to meet current needs.

10/26/908   Duranium shortages become widespread throughout Strug Home.  The conversion of mining complexes is halted temporarily.

6/12/909   Enough duranium has been accumulated to begin construction again.  The Strug government decides to begin work on infrastructure to expand the colony on planet five.  The infrastructure is cheap and easy to build, and once the infrastructure and colonists have been transported to Five, mines can be emplaced there without any further cost.

The Strug are focused on alleviating a serious duranium shortage on their home planet.  Currently, Strug Home will run out of duranium in just over a year.  Six other, less essential trans-uranic minerals have already been exhausted, and three of the five remaining, including duranium, will be exhausted in less than two years.  The only shortage so far is duranium, but that won?t last as stockpiles are depleted.  Five has a large amount of duranium at pretty good levels of availability, but only has two other trans-uranics.

The Strug plan currently is to expand the automated mines on Twelve and the mining colony on Five, thus accessing the large amounts of duranium on these worlds.  This will take some time, but will ensure continued access to duranium.
