Error 6 - Overflow - in GetEscortLocation

Does anyone know what can cause the above error to occur which now locks the game , forcing me to re-load an earlier save.

I was trying to have a military ship protect/escort a grav survey ship at 10k distance . I thought it was set up correctly but the pop-error occurred which locks the game.

Did your Survey ship jump/go through a Jump Gate?  'Cause that'll do it.

They also need to be in the same system to start with, as Father Tim says - the escorts ships do not jump after the ship they are escorting. Might be a good thing to suggest to Steve if he can add it in.
