Battle of Marlost Prime - Part 2
The 2nd Battle Division jumped in the system of Marlost after a brief visit at New Cairo.
Everything was quiet, so the Commodore ordered the fleet to move to Marlost Prime.
The jump point is quite far from the inner planets, so the trip took ten days. When the 2nd Battle Division was close enough
CNS Agamemnon and CNS Alger activated her sensors.
The sensors revealed 14 alien ships along with a shipyard complex of 640 000t.
2x Nero class, 16 400t
3x Verutum, 16 150t
3x Spiculum, 24 150t
3x Maximus, 36 800t
2x Pilum, 16 450t
1x Pyrrhus, 24 750t
The Drusus, Marcus Antonius, Cicero and the three Trajans were not found at the planet.
Obviously not all the ships were military designs, but the decision was made to declare hostilities and fire a test salvo. Ships,
that would activate their sensors, or head for the ships of the Colonial Alliance would be the targets of the subsequent salvos.
The CNS Moskva, CNS Baku and the CNS Kiev had fired two salvos of T28 Tigerfish torpedos at the Nero 001. Since the
target was stationary all torpedos hit. One of them hit a reactor, which exploded, but the ships still lived. It was severely crippled though.
As the second salvo closed in the three Spiculums and the three Maximus' began to flee in the opposite direction indicating, that they are commercial ships.
On the other hand, the Phyrrus had his sensors activated and with the two Pilums headed for the ships of Albion. The two Neros and the three Verutums remained at the planet. Maybe they are stationary defence platforms or PDCs.
Meanwhile three torpedoes from the CNS Moskva were enough to tear the damaged Nero 001 apart. The whole 2nd Battle Division now targeted the Phyrrus, which was 62m kilometers away. 46 torpedoes were launched, so far no sign of any offensive action, incoming missiles, etc.
As the torpedos closed in, the enemy has responded with defensive fire. 14 T28s were shot down, but the rest severely damaged the Phyrrus and the speed of the
enemy group dropped to 1000 km/s.
CNS Baku was ordered to launch six T28s at the Phyrrus, while Warspite, Agamemnon, Kiev and Moskva engaged the two Pilums.
All three Marlostian ships were blown up at the same time.
Now, the next task is to investigate the stationary enemy units at Marlost Prime and to find out where are the missing Malrostian ships.
