Hmm, forget about lasers, forgot to include reactors in the ship :-[ :-X ...

The enemy are lobbing, Thermal missiles at me as well as standard missile at ca. 39000 Km/s, my AMM are now intercepting them all ;D, after losing some 80 million people on Earth...
Thermal = Plasma torps? or something els??

My F-1 fighters with 4 small gausguns are trying to close with the enemy and shoot some pebbels at them

The thermals are missiles...  Forget about plasma torps, my fighters just killed a 20000 ton ship after 3 minuts of firing... Ok only 2 armour...

As far as I know Steve has only coded Invaders to use PT's.

What's the tactical scenario around your turrets not engaging PT's?  Ship design(s) and torpedo speeds would also be helpful to know.

I got 4 escorts armed with quad 15cm laser turrets they dont even try to engage, turret at 40000 km/s...
Hmmm,  this is the first system I explore, found 2 21000 ton ships and 3 6800 tons, cant bee invaders... ???
Does anyone els use plasma torps...

Plasma torps can be shot down.  The kicker is that they have a variable amount of armor.  The armor formula is (plasma warhead strength)-1.  So a plasma torp witha warhead of 20 has 19 points of armor while a torp with a warhead of 5 has 4 points of armor.  This makes anti missiles a poor choice for stopping them.  The equation for actually stopping the torp with any single amm that actually hits is (amm warhead)/(sum of armor plus amm warhead).  As most anti-missiles (amm) have a 1 point warhead this quickly drops their chances of stopping the plasma's.  For example a warhead 5 plasma would have a 1/5 or 20% chance of being killed by any single intercept.  If it takes an average of 4 amm to get that single hit you are ending up with needing 20 amm for each incomming plasma.

Overall trying to intercept plasmas with anti missiles is usually a losing propersition.

Yes.  They have been fast (80,000kps) in my experience and take several points if damage before being destroyed.  IIRC they've taken at least 3 points of damage before being destroyed.  Steve posted something about it around 18 months ago.

Is it possible to intercept/shoot down plasma torpedos??

I know this is a Academy question, but I didn´t want to "scare" new species exploring the great unknown...
