Unable to create a new class of ship.

The tutorial states: "The first step is to create a new class.  Press New in the bottom left hand corner. "

However, I do not have "New" in the bottom left hand corner.  Yes, my resolution is high enough.  Instead I have six buttons, from right to left, "Rename", "Auto Rename", "Random Rename", "Re-number", "New Hull" and "Design Tech. "

None of these options seem to allow me to create a new class of ship.

What gives?

There is another row of buttons below those: New, Delete, NPR Class, New Armour, Lock/Unlock and Copy Design.

Sounds like you've got the dreaded Resolution problem.  Remember: aurora is coded in some visual basic code-- so its a little archaic.  The screen and button layout is related to your monitor resolution.  increase your resolution to see the buttons, or, try turning on Reduced Window Height in one of the menus and that should make the buttons visible.  CLose the windows, turn it on, open the windows again.

Wow, so the buttons aren't even drawn if the vertical isn't enough?

And I thought I'd found a game that'd make use of two 1440 monitors!

Edit: The frame borders extending to the end of the window was a dead giveaway, I just couldn't contemplate my set up being inadequate.
