Question on shield EM signature
« on: October 11, 2014, 10:18:15 PM »
Can a shield only be detected when it's actually activated, or will a ship with a shield always have high EM signature, even if the shield is down?

I know if theyre offline they dont emit the signature.

The EM signature of a shield is equal to it's strength if my memory serves correctly (at the very least it's proportional), so the weaker the shields, the smaller the signature and when the shields are inactive, they emit nothing. Also EM signature of a shield does not stack with EM signature of active sensors - those are two completely different signatures.

The EM signature of a shield is 30 times bigger than strength.
