Help with ruins
« on: August 23, 2019, 10:29:59 PM »
So, I discovered my first alien ruins and sent a xenology team (160-ish skill), who uncovered 14 installations after a few years.   So, I sent in a construction brigade (158 morale, 40% commander) to dig them up, and they were uncovering once a tick.   Found mercassium, then 8x 500 salvage modules, then 40x compressed fuel tanks. . .  Then nothing.   Still sitting at 11 installations a few months later.

Even weirder, the salvage modules showed up in the colony stockpile, but the fuel tanks didn't.   I can't find them anywhere, and was really looking forward to getting that tech.   Am I missing something, or am I bugged?

Compressed fuel tanls - known bug, yep. It can be fixed via point db edit (ask Steve for db password, if you feel yourself adventurous enought to risk with adding new and unexpected unrecoverable bugs to your campaign).

Dang.   Is it possible to just give yourself the tech in SM mode?  Seems safer, and I feel the 40x I had was more than enough for the tech.

The CB not digging seems like just bad RNG, they're back to digging like a puppy at least.

Regular-sized compressed fuel tanks don't work, but you should be able to research the larger varieties with do.
Quite a useful tech imo.

Advanced lasers are also bugged, in an amusing way. AIUI the effective calibre is the damage value of the regular variant and everything else is calculated from that... effectively 3cm, 4cm, 6cm lasers and so on.
Small ones do nothing, then we get a 2HS 2 damage laser which might be a useful addition, then a few unremarkable ones, then ridiculously large guns at high tech levels or as spinal weapons.

Problem is I never actually *got* the 40 compressed tanks it said my troops found, so I can't reverse-engineer them for the techs :/
