How The heck do i sorium harvest?

Im having a great big deal of trouble getting my sorium harvestors to work. and the main problem is. i cant get the ships i want to be sorium harvestors, to unload their fuel on earth. so that they can start harvesting

Flag them as Tankers in the class design window.

I for one think that the design view of a ship would benefit from indicating whether the ship is flagged as tanker/collier/etc.
I based my original tanker designs off of ships from AARs and other posts which made it easy to forget/skip/not know that step.  But if it actually said [tanker] in the design summary, that would help, I think.

As brought up previously, sorium harvesters are best left stationary (or on a supertanker, if your fleet needs super-long-range support).  Have another ship being ordered to "refuel from fleet" at the harvester and "drop 90% of fuel at X colony" so that your courier ship will run to the harvester, take fuel, run to the planet, empty fuel, and then click the cycle option so it'll keep doing it.

Yah so i made my ship a tanker. then had a small ship running to and from...no sorium was ever delivered. it would just unload fuel. but i wouldnt get sorium

You don't. Ship based harvesters convert the sorium collected from the gas giants directly into fuel. If you are wanting actual sorium for jump engines etc. then you need to mine it from solid bodies using mines/automines/asteroid miners.
