Fixing an errant NPR
« on: August 28, 2011, 03:22:42 PM »
Hi all,

I have what I believe, from reading the relevant bug reports, is likely an errant NPR naming scheme generating periodic Error 94 (Error in GetommanderName) reports consistent with those reported in the bug reports.  I'd like to either fix this or just wipe this NPR, as I'm not keen on having this error pop up every few months as it does.  Plus, I'd like to test if this is the case and see if my NPR's situation is the same as DatAlien's report (Alien Race #1 being the offending naming scheme, possibly), and thus be able to possibly isolate at least one cause of it.

Is there any way to do this?  I'd prefer that over choosing between tolerating these errors or abandoning this game.

Chris

Could check in the db for stray apostrophes.

What can you use to do that?  I haven't messed with databases much.  Access?  Or a hex editor?

FYI the database is password protected and you'll need to get that from Steve directly.

Yep, I just figured that out before reading this.  :)

For now, I've obliterated the problem by starting a new game.  I'll probably end up asking for it later.
