This is the principal missile combatant of the Federation. There are currently 18 in service with six more building with improved gamma shields. The original design featured  five size 1 missile launchers and associated fire control, but their failure in the '68 incident lead to their removal and increased passive defences.

The Federation escort has given sterling service. There are currently 11 in service with five under construction. The original design mounted two triple 10cm laser turrets with adequate power supply. But to cram the 12cm twin turrets into the same hull, there was a miscalculation on the required power supply, it being thought that since they took 10 seconds to recharge half the power was enough. However this calculation was short by two megawatts, leading to a degraded performance. This fault is not to be rectified before 2079. [Steve - the F5 screen always said I needed 12 power, not the actual 16 power required. Is this a bug?]

The 12 on the F5 screen is correct.  Your using C3's not C4's.  Your ROF should be 15 with the smaller capacitor.  Upgrade the lasers to C4's and then you'll need the 16 reactor points for a 10sec cycle.

Thanks for that. I probably should have stuck with the 10cm turrets but could not resist nearly doubling the range. Then I would get event reports that the lasers needed 2 or 3 more power to be ready to fire.
