Title: Destroyermen by Taylor Anderson
Post by: Beersatron on February 05, 2020, 09:45:34 AM
This is a fantastic series and the author releases a new book every year around June https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074CGNMDQ?searchxofy=true&ref_=dbs_s_aps_series_rwt

The official site has artwork that brings everything to life http://taylorandersonauthor.com/destroyermen-art.html

It is set at the start of WW2 with Allied ships fleeing the rampaging Japanese Navy, some of the ships hit a squall during their escape and are transported to a parallel world.

I don't want to describe it in any more detail because the author does a really good job of building this new world one book at a time.

I'll throw in my appreciation for this series as well. I particularly enjoy the battle sequences in these books, he does a good job of weaving together various points of view and making them both engaging and relatively easy to follow. My only real issue about this series is that the individual books can sometimes be a bit repetitive, but the overall story is interesting and I never feel put off from reading. If you enjoy the first few books (the first three form a sort of mini-trilogy if you want to think of that as a starting point) you will probably enjoy the rest of them as well.

I've actually been considering doing an Aurora game loosely based off this series once C# comes out.

I actually found these books 11 years ago when someone (Larac) mentioned them on the forum: http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=1431.msg12789#msg12789  It was in Mechanics though :)  Been reading them ever since - overall I give them a "B".
