Steve Multi-Faction Earth Game got me excited to start a new fiction based on a Multi faction start. I went for a conventional start so I could ease my way into it. This is my first Multi faction start on Earth, so I need to wrap my head around handling multi countries and distinguish what they know and do not. The Multi Faction start it allows me to add treaties and so forth that the game does not allow. Hope you enjoy the read as much I enjoy the play.
2016 Earth has first contact with an Alien species called the Syoan, they are a bipedal race and do not look too dissimilar to the grey aliens that history shows may of visited earth on many occasions in the past. Earth was unsure why they have been contacted now or what possessed the Syoans to hand over new physic models and ways to detect new particles necessary for space travel. But as the old saying goes 'you do not look a gift horse in the mouth' actually what the hell does that saying mean.
First contact was a turning point in the evolution of the human species, the question answered, Are we alone? Now what do with this knowledge?
The politics of the earth had not really changed for hundreds of years. Alliance might of changed in various spheres, but the political and racial alignments have tended not to change for over a millennium.
CHINA
The Far East, the rise of the dragon happen fast but not unexpected the modernisation and expansion of China influence. What was underestimated was Chinese influence into Middle Africa, using it to gain further more resources for its powerhouse of industry.
Industry is in many respects another branch of population the Government. The culture is the promotion of the Motherland, through sacrifice of the willing. However under the layer of continual propagandize nationalism is a very self-centric nature of individual survival. Middle Africa has become a resource pool and will never have a voice in the China First policy. China has succeeded where the Germans were never able to achieve a single 'superior' race.

CRESENT STAR UNION
The Muslim world continued to separate itself from everyone else, even amongst themselves they made very little progress for peace and prosperity. If they ever got their act together they could rival the other blocks with resources and manpower. The Cresent Star Union is the first steps to this direction, but the rich of the countries are still very much at the helm with the masses able to say very little.

IMPERIUM
The heavily socialist states, primarily dominated by Russia however recent allied countries of the French, Greek and Adriatic countries. These countries focus on central government, nationalism or patriotism, control of the media.
The socialist government culture is dominated by grand gestures and stunts to the public to show the wealth and power of the BLOC. Government ownership and influence of corporations, keeps the corporate machine ticking over for the government.
The governments in France and Russia were seeking Imperialism, which was the might of the two countries, both countries found it beneficial for a single country but still wanted to keep their strong national identities. The FrancoRus Pact created an Imperium of a join government and even installed an Emperor which was the child of an arranged marriage Vladimir Putin daughter Yekaterina Putina and Jean Christophe Bonaparte. The union spawn the creation of the Imperium.
Seeking more population resource for the Imperium, Russia used its heavy influence to bring India into the Imperium as a close partner

OPAB
The West consisting of a varied anglo-saxon dominated countries, Baltic countries and US influenced Asiatic countries like Japan which was now more west then east since cultural remolding after World War 2. Notions of individual expression, democracy, capitalism, manipulated media through corporate ownership and government relationships and still the heavy basis of the culture. Money is the goal and measuring stick for the West. “If it doesn’t have net value long or short term, then don’t do it”.
The signing of the OPAB (Oceania, Pacific, Atlantic, Baltic) trade and security agreement, made the NATO alliance redundant. Countries like France and Italy were already shifting their alliance out of NATO and the EU towards their own agendas.

NEW PAPAL STATES
Spain never enjoyed much influence in the now deteriorated European Union, started spent more diplomacy and money reconnecting and re-establishing relationships with the South America’s and with Spanish-Portuguese relations were never stronger. Spain’s desire to build a power block of Latin speaking countries were eventually realised.
The Catholic Church used the new bloc to heavily infiltrate and guide this bloc. This meant the corrupt regimes were replaced by a central controlled by the Vatican, which influence Italy to join the bloc by proxy. The Church was in such a prime position to direct the middle and peasant class into it politic agenda that much of the rich either joined the church hierarchy by alignment or were force out leaving their wealth to the church.
The poorest of the BLOCs, but it is a rapidly emerging bloc. Although it has not fallen back quiet to its Spanish Inquisitional roots, the church is heading very rapidly in direction of theocracy.

SYOANS
The race is the remnants of a species, being wiped out by a superior species they escaped encounter humans. After watching for 100’s of years, they felt time to help humans into space, before this other race find both the humans and the Syoans again. They gave each of the BLOCs space technology with a signing of two agreements. Point 1, The removal of all weapons of mass destruction on Earth. Point Two a treaty of non-aggression with the Syoans, and not entering Syoan solar system.. The Syoans however are exempt and have freedom of movement everywhere.
The Earth BLOCs felt that the SYOANS were far technological and superior to Earth and if they meant harm they would of, so they signed. Getting the technology the opportunity to expand the human race was not a question, like all new human ventures this started out as a positive enlightenment and peaceful exploration.
