Civilian freight oddity
« on: January 31, 2011, 02:51:24 AM »
I'm about ten years into a game where I started in Sol; I have two extrasolar colonies in systems which I will call A and B, and of course a Mars colony.

Sol, A, and B are all connected to one another by jumpgates, and my A and B colonies do not yet supply and demand civilian goods.

I've just noticed a civilian freighter in System A, in a path leading directly from the Sol jumpgate to the B jumpgate.  The shipping line screen indicates it is carrying 20x spices to Mars; evidently it came from Earth, since no other colony has a surplus of spices.

Additionally, looking at the Mars Wealth/Trade screen, the current shortfall in spices is 18.5, but it should be over 20 by the time this freighter actually reaches Mars.

Question is, is this simply a bug, or did this shipping line actually choose the ridiculously long trip in order to make sure the spices are in demand by the time it arrives?

That sounds like a pathing issue, possibly linked to a time increment issue.

Might be worth adding your post to the 5.30 Official Bugs thread.
