The IRC completes its first Orel class Tug, which begins moving the two orbital habitats into orbit around an asteroid, which is already home to a small civilian mining operation. Due to the mass of the habitats the Tug can only travel at 60km/s when towing them, and so each trip will take 2 months.

A Chinese espionage cell steals the blueprints for the EAF’s MSA-01A Yari missile. After analysis, Chinese intelligence concludes that while the design is interesting, they expect China’s own Nuclear Pulse powered variant of the YS-01A Pi Li to be superior when it enters service, and that production of the design is therefore not worth pursuing, as the missile is not optimal for current Chinese launch platforms anyway.
14th June 2038
China completes research into Nuclear Pulse engines. Development of civilian and military models begins, along with designs for a missile drive.
12th July 2038
The IRC launches a Kara class Auxiliary Transport, in response to a growing need to move ground forces to its developing colonies. Designed for easy of construction and not much else, the Kara is adequate for the job while the IRC looks at larger, dedicated transport designs.

Earths supply of Vendarite is exhausted. While not a cause for immediate concern as all the powers have atleast 20,000tons of the mineral stored up, it does draw attention to the Earths dwindling stock of resources. The next ones predicted to run out are Mercassium and Tritanium.

The NAU is the first power to launch a warship, sparking a new era in the solar system. The Benson class frigate was designed as a multi-purpose combat vessel, capable of engaging enemies with both long range missiles and a hail of short range railgun fire. NAU intelligence reports that all the other powers besides the IRC have also started construction of warships, though experts believe that the launch of the Benson will likely spur the IRC into action too. A third ship is laid down, with a second already being built to a slightly modified design incorporating new armour. The third ship will be built to the old design as there is a shortage of shipyard space at the moment, and the NAU leadership plans to build at least 6 Benson class frigates for now, enough to allow them, operating in pairs, to maintain one squadron in constant readiness.

The IRC launches a second Kara class AT.
23rd March 2039
The NAU launches its first cargo ship, well behind the other nations. The delay was caused mainly by the ship design bureaus insistence upon going straight for a larger design. It begins moving infrastructure to Mars.

The IRC launches its third Kara class AT. A fourth is due in November.

In response to the growing influence of the other factions coupled with the impending militarisation of space as highlighted by the NAUs recently launch ship, a coalition of South American states led by Brazil appeal to the SMCC to support them in their own endeavour to reach for the stars. As this was one goal written down in the SMCCs charter in 2034, the council agrees to help.
1st May 2039
The South American Coalition becomes a signatory to the Moscow treaty, and establishes itself as a formal (if somewhat more loosely affiliated than the older ones) power. The former Brazilian President, Gracilian Braga, is elected as the first Prime Minister of the Coalition. Rear Admiral Gil Gouveia becomes head of the newly formed South American Space Agency (SASA). The Coalition receives basic engine, sensor and logistics technologies, and minerals (amounting to some 20,000t) from the other signatories of the Treaty, mainly the IRC, in a gesture of goodwill.
23rd May 2039
The IRC launches a second Orel class Tug.
21st June 2039
The IRC completes development of Nuclear Pulse engine technology.
14th August 2039
China launches their first warship, a Type 041A class Frigate, the Changde. It is a design that is outdated almost as soon as it is launched due to still using Nuclear Thermal engines, if not for its impressive sensor and missile ranges, a result of using the same systems as on the ground based Missile Bases. A second ship is around 20% complete to an updated design using Nuclear Pulse engines. A third is laid down. Changde will likely undergo a refit once the second ship is complete.

The EAF launches its first warships, three small Shimakaze class Corvettes. The class was designed around a high output engine, freeing up space for weapons and other systems. It is noticeably faster and smaller than other warships in service at the moment, despite packing a respectable punch. Three more are laid down. The first three ships begin exercises at 1750km/s.
