Show all known ruins
« on: August 30, 2015, 08:58:39 PM »
Is there some way to see a list of all known ruins?  I'm working on setting up a new game via SM mode and so I'm exploring out the map using the SM race.  I'd like to be able to see all the places where ruins have been generated without having to check each and every system.

Dont think there is.
Easiest way to have ruins that you know about are ones you SM place.

Yes, there is a list under the 'Display 2' tab on the tactical map

Thanks Steve!  Is there a similar display for known research boosting anomalies?

Not at the moment but that is a good idea.

I'm hijackng this thread for similar ruin related goodness.
I was under the impression that sensors detected ruins, thermal or EM but I'm not sure, so I've been scouting new systems with a frigate equipped with strength 36 thermal, a strength 18 EM sensor, as well as a short ranged res 1 active.
I've been sending it directly to low cost worlds looking for NPRs but had hoped it would also detect ruins and anomalies, but after scouting 70 ophiuchi and coming up empty I put a colony on an almost inhabitable world. Imagine my surprise when I saw on the population and production screen that the world had an anomy and ?? Abandoned installations.
I've seen no mention of discovered ruins in the event log and in addition the known ruins box under display 2 is showing nothing.
Why didn't I discover anything? I haven't geosurveyed the planet yet.

". . .  We know nothing about them, their language, their history or what they look like.  But we can assume this.  They stand for everything we don't stand for.  Also they told me you guys look like dorks. "

You need to geosurvey the planet to find ruins.  Sensors don't pick up the deactivated buildings is how I figure it works, you have to send in eyes on the ground.

That makes sense, it's just a shame the planet was spoilered before I surveyed it, I assume a team scouting the planets biology discovered something.
