(I am an inexperienced player)
Playing conventional start 6. 1
I start with 5 research labs and build one more, but it does not show up.
The log shows it completed, but the summary and the research page still show 5. I allowed another year to go by, for maybe a setup time, but no.
I found a note on the wiki that you need 1 mil pop per lab, but I have 600 mil pop.
I notice I only have 5 mil scientists, so that might be the limit, but i raised my total pop from 500 mil to 600 mil and did not gain any new scientists.
So if it is a scientist limit, how do a get another 1 mil scientists?

That's how many scientists you have working for you at the moment, not how many are available.
Did you assign the lab to a researcher on the research tab of the economy screen?

There used to be a problem with rounding if building the lab were interrupted, i.e. you thought you'd built 6 labs, but you'd actually only built 5.99 labs, which rounds down to 5. To check this, you can turn on SM mode, then open the F2 screen and go to the dialog to adjust the colony's "stuff" (I forget which button to push to get there). If you see 5.99 then that was the problem.

The log says "Terren Federation - Production - Sol - Construction of Research Lab completed on Earth"
On the F2 Summury page it still says Research Lab 5
On the F2 - Research tab I am using 5 labs currently and it says Available research labs 0
I tried the SM suggestion and the SM Mods tab says Reserach Labs 5
I have done some research and converted some CL to construction. But the Research lab is basicly the first thing i built in the game and it seems to have disappeared, but the log says it was completed and it is off the industry build list.
