I started with the Spectrum 48k version of Elite moving onto the Amiga version.

I play Oolite on a semi-regular basis and it's great for a bit of nostalgia indulgence :)

Never mind Anarchy systems try adding in a few of the Thargoid mods with super carrier and the like.  Now that's scary  ;D

Elite on C64 was my first gaming obsession.

All three Elite games have fan remakes, primarily Oolite, Pioneer, and FFED3D. Each also have a active sub-forums over at SpaceSimCentral.

I played Elite on the BBC Micro. My first game on floppy disk instead of tape :). I was wowed by the 2 second ready time instead of several minutes for tape :)

Elite was the very first computer game I played on my then brand new Amstrad 1512.

Ah, the memories :)

I never played Elite, but the 'X' games by Egosoft are the reason I got on the internet all those years ago :)

We had a long conversation on the board about oolite a while back (a couple of years), but I just did a search for it and couldn't find the thread.

Elite was one of my favorite games of all time, and oolite rocks as a reincarnation of it.

Have you tried X3?  It's got a very elite-ish feel in terms of combat, missions, and trading system.
