How do I create a new Task Force please?

Hi,

I've been playing Aurora for a week or so (love it), it's pretty unapproachable though - I have been searching the Forums and am muddling through though.

I can't figure out how to create a new task force (not task group).  I have searched the forums (using advanced search) for this and have found other info relating to this complex topic, but not that.

I may just be being a bit thick - if so apologies - but at least I'm posting as a last resort and have tried to help myself.

I have built a command destroyer with a Flag Bridge.  I have assigned a commodore as CO for this vessel.  But I'm not getting a new task force listed in the left hand window of the Naval Organisation tab (of the F12 screen).

What am I missing?

Don't have Aurora installed here, but I believe the screen you want is Ctrl-F4.

I have created my new TF using the above method, but the existing Fleet Headquarters TF is nested under the new TF in naval organisation - I would have expected this to be it's own root level node in here.

I do get the 2 TFs appearing in the TF dropdown however.

Is this a feature or am I doing something wrong?

I'd have to look at the screen to answer that fully. If someone else has Aurora, give it a shot, otherwise you'll have to wait a couple hours.

Is this on the Task Force screen of the F12 window, or the Ctrl-F4 window?

I just created one and it is the same level as the one that was already there. It does not show subordinate to any other TF either.

In the Ctrl-F4 screen everything looks rosey - 2 TFs in the dropdown as you'd expect

The problem is in the Naval organisation windows of the F12 screen.

I have discovered the issue.  I removed the existing subordinate branches from the exisiting TF (Fleet HEadquarters TF) in Naval Organisation tab of F2 and re-created the new TF and it worked fine .

A problem I was having was that even though you could successfully create a new Task Force (Crtl-F4), create branches under it and assign Task Groups to it, in the Naval Organization window tab (F12), when you looked at the Task Force Organization window, the Task Group was still assigned to the Fleet Headquarters Task Force.  So when you select it under the branch it is assigned in the Naval Organization window tab and look at the Details and Special Orders area in the top left, the Task Force drop down shows it still being assigned to the Fleet Headquarters Task Force.  The solution: in the Initiative area below the Task Force drop down there is a Set button.   

1.    Select the Task Group that you have assigned to the branch under the new Task Force.   
2.    In the Task Force drop down, change the Task Force to the new Task Force that you have created.   
3.    Push the Set button in the Initiative area.   

Your Task Group under your new branch of your new Task Force should now show up correctly in the Task Force Organizations (Crtl-F4) window and whenever you select it in the Task Groups (F12) Naval Organizations Tab, the correct Task Force will show up in the Task Force drop down upper left corner of the Details and Special Orders area.
