Auto-assigning weapons to fire controls

I'm wondering if it's possible, just for the sake of convenience. Not much to say...

you can use Automated Fire, but generally speaking i only do this on beam escort ships or beam PDCs.

basically though its not too hard as long as you don't use too many different ship classes. Once you've set up a ship to your satisfaction, you can use the buttons in the 'Copy Assign' box of the Combat Overview to copy one ship's assignments to all ships of that class in the tg, system, or race.
