Missiles doing odd things,
« on: November 19, 2012, 05:16:08 AM »
I got somekind of homing missiles after me, when I noticed that I was targeted by a Precursor ship, I turned around my ship on a different heading... To give my weapons more time to intercept them, not that I am worried  ;)
All the missiles did the same, altering there course to intercept me, before they even got to the point were they were aiming at...   :o

Isn't that normal for missiles?

Only if they have gone to a waypoint and then managed to have you within there sensors, but these starts turning as soon as I changed course, way outside their sensor range, of course my ship is big and probably glows like a star... ???

Aren't missiles guided by the firing ship when fired at a target (not waypoint)?

I though that you needed to maintain sensor contact with the target until it was hit if you were using sensor-less missiles, and that the missiles tracked their targets by using your sensors. The only time you'd want to fire them at waypoints would be when the missiles themselves had sensors onboard.

Yes, missiles are always actively guided, either by the MFC on the ship that fired them (the usual case), or onboard sensors on the missile itself.  There are no dumb-fired missiles in Aurora, they are always going somewhere and will follow that somewhere if it moves.
