Aevum Obscurum – part 3, 1060-1070

This will be a long one. :)

23rd January 1060:
The gravitational survey ships ISS Lyra, ISS Virgo and ISS Cygnus had finished their overhaul and their next mission will be to survey the Proxima Centauri system.

20th March 1060:
The retooling for the Emperors is done. Construction began on three ships, the ISS Emperor, ISS Monarch and ISS Sultan. Lord Shuv’Rath gave an order to expand the existing naval shipyard by one slipway.

25th June 1060:
At least! A new scholar has joined in. Marcelet de la Rou, 15% Construction/Production.

30th November 1060: The survey of the Proxima Centauri system is finished, the scouts didn’t found any additional jump point making this system our „backyard“ with two 2.00 colonizable planets. Our primary colonization destination after Mars will be this system.

6th April 1061:
Our top scholar, Olivia of York has finished researching the miniaturization of our missile launchers by 25%. She's now continuing the miniaturization process. The intended goal is to reduce the launchers to 50% of their original size.

27th August 1061: The Emperors are rolling out of the shipyards. The commander of the 1st Homeland Defence Fleet Richard of Normandy has decided to assign these officers:
ISS Emperor – Lt. Sybil Bafford (former commander of ISS Shuv)
ISS Monarch – Lt. Arnaut Heofle (former commander of ISS The Lord’s Eye)
ISS Sultan – Lt. Connor McDonough (former commander of ISS Heretic)

The shipyard is now retooling for The Lord’s Eyes again. Only 25% of Solar system is surveyed and the Master is displeased by the slow pace of the exploration.

The Britannia Imperial Scriptoriums proposed a new ship design built around their jump drive. The Wayfarer’s role is to assist our warships through jump points. The maximum ship size is 12000 tons. The wayfarer also carries 200 emergency cryogenic berths.

17th November 1061:
So far two jump points were found in the Alpha Centauri system. ISS Virgo transited the first one and discovered the Hibernia system.

26th November 1061:
The research on the Sorium harvester module is finished. The Imperator appointed the North American Monastery to design a functional fuel harvester.

The retooling for the Urania began in the Orbital Commercial Shipyards. The high command ordered four ships of this class for now.

20th December 1061:
ISS Virgo made an interresting discovery. After jumping through the 1st jump point from the Alpha Centauri system she discovered a quadrinary system.
Atargatis-A is a G8-V class with three terrestrial planets, none of them habitable and 72 asteroids. Atargatis-B is a G9-V class with three terrestrial planets and two moons, the second planet has a colonization cost of 2.00. Both Atargatis-C and D are planetless.

A few days later the gravitational survey in Alpha Centauri is finished, no additional jump points were found.

12th February 1062:
Construction began on three new geological scouts. The ISS Inquisitor, ISS Scholar and ISS Cleric.

27th November 1062: The gravitational survey of Luyten 726-8 is almost complete. So far only one jump point was found and it turned out that it leaded to a dormant jump point in the Proxima Centauri system. After all that was the only jump point in that system.
When the new geological survey ships will be complete, their first mission will be to survey the comets in this system.

23rd March 1063:
The design of the small patrol vessels is complete. There are two variants. The Minion is intended for combat and the Reaver is the scout variant.

The missile design is not ready yet, our scholars are working on the missile warheads and the precision improving software with the intent to optimize them.

26th May 1063:
The new Lord’s Eyes were finished and are heading to the Luyten 726-8 system.

9th November 1063:
At least the geological survey ships showed up some results. They discovered large deposits of various minerals on almost all comets in Luyten 726-8. The Master is satisfied and he commanded that the Luyten 726-8 shall be renamed to Oreburgh. The comets of Sol contain vast deposits too.

21st January 1064:
The survey operations in Epsilon Eridani are going well. Three new jump points were found. One of them leads to the Nimene system with a G6-V class star. No habitable planets.

7th May 1064: Past the second discovered jump point in the Alpha Centauri is the system of Hespera. A M4-V class star no habitable planets and 125 asteroids.

16th May 1064:
A huge discovery was made by Lt.j.g. Beatrix Livingstone, when transiting from the final jump point of the Epsilon Eridani system to the Tau Ceti system. The sensors picked up a class 0 moon orbiting a gas giant, ideal for habitation by Shuv’s and Humans. Our Imperator felt ambivalent about that discovery. The discovery of a class 0 world is excellent, but there are dangers of the uncautious exploration. What if the planet is inhabited? He did not wanted to draw the attention of other races, but His curiosity had more power over Him. He ordered the ISS Virgo to cautiously approach the planet and scan it for EM and Thermal signatures.

26th May 1064:
The Master was right, when he said that the space is full of life.
An EM signature of strenght 16,031 was detected on that class 0 moon. Compared to the EM signature of Earth, which is 23,513 the alien population must be around 275m.
Lord Shuv’Rath ordered the ship back to Sol at full speed and mobilized the 1st Frigate Squadron. The 1st Frigate Squadron will picket the jump point to Epsilon Eridani and will wait for the arrival of the ISS Virgo. Since the warships do not have separate jump drives and no jump ship is constructed yet, they can't leave the Solar system to help out the scout.
No ships of the Tau Cetians were registered, but there is no evidence of their nonexistence.
The discovery of a new race only two jumps away from Sol worried the Master.
Lord Shuv'Rath appointed the civilian administrator Hugues de Blarru with the creation of a diplomatic team. His strategy for now will be to stabilize the relations with this race until the Imperium can amass enough warships to take a more agressive policy against our neighbours.

18th June 1064:
The contact with the Drongar Hierarchy was established quite quickly. Their physical appearance is shocking. They were not organic in origin, they were a mechanical race governed by a central artificial intelligence called The Drongar.
The Master recognized these robots.

I saw these droids before. They were used by the Old Ones as warriors and guards. It looks like that this rogue A.I. Drongar took control over them. Interresting. We should have positive relations with them for now. And once we build up our army and navy we should "liberate" that planet and utilize his inhabitants in our armed forces.

28th November 1064:
A civilian mining colony was established on the comet Tempel1.
500 infrastructure and 5 terraforming installations were delivered to Mars. There are no colonists there to operate them yet.
The Central Imperial Research Facilities proposed a new design of a colony ship capable of transferring 50,000 colonists in cryogenic berths.

Fuel Capacity 500,000 Litres    Range 42.0 billion km   (584 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

30th May 1065:
The survey of the Barnards Star nebula has begun. The complete survey of the system will take long.

22nd March 1066:
The new Imperial Small Craft Naval Yard is complete. It will begin the construction of the Minions and the Reavers. The Lord ordered to expand the shipyard with one slipway.

23rd July 1066:
Three new Stella class gravitational survey vessels were built.
ISS Draco – Lt.j.g. Garnot de Vin
ISS Lupus – Lt.j.g. William of Normandy
ISS Hydra – Lt.j.g. Richard de Clare

27th September 1066:
The Drongar Hierarchy granted us trade rights. It seems that their relation to us is quite positive.

27th March 1067:
The jumpships are finally complete.
ISS Wayfarer – Lt. Caisin de Vittry
ISS Pilgrim – Lt. Eustace of Boulogne

Lord Shuv’Rath decided, that the time has come to survey the Sirius system where that unknown wreck was found. The Survey Squadron „Lupus“ consisting of the newly built Stellas recieved the orders to head for the Sirius jump point. The will be backed by the 1st Frigate Squadron consisting of three Charles the Great class, three Emperor class and one Wayfarer class ships.
1st September 1067:
So far the survey of the Sirius system is going well and no enemy was encountered.

2nd October 1067: A new jump point was found in the Sirius system. The 1st Frigate Squadron will move on to investigate it.
The jump point leaded to a system with only two planets. In the star charts provided from the database of the Lord’s ship this system is named Melkor. One planet is terrestrial, the other is a dwarf planet. They are not habitable.

2nd December 1067:
A new jump point was found in the Barnards Star system. But this jump point was different from the others. It had a giant structure built around it. Our Master said, that it is a device built by the Old Ones to simplify the interstellar traffic. Any ship can jump through this jump point, without expensive and bulky jump engines.

22nd February 1068:
The second jump point from the Sirius system led to the trinary system of Demeter.

2nd May 1068:
Our first colony ship is complete. The colonization of Mars begins.
The first batch of Minions is complete too. It consists of five Minions and one Reaver. Too bad there are no missiles for them. The Lord was not pleased by the original missile designs saying they were too slow. No new missiles will be designed until the new engine prototype will be complete.

4th August 1068:
The survey of the Sirius system is complete. Only two jump points were found.

1st January 1069:
The survey of the Barnards Star system had to be suspended, because the ships retreated to Earth for repairs and resupply. 80% of the system is surveyed. The ISS Cygnus transited that strange jump point with a gate and discovered the Scutus level 6 nebula with a K5-V protostar and one terrestrial planet.

7th May 1069:
Our most successful officer Grace de Hale, commander of the ISS Charles the Great suffered a terrible accident and she lost her life. She was replaced by Lt. Cmdr. Fulk of Chartres.

7th August 1069:
The CIRF proposed a new missile design to the Lord Shuv’Rath.

Quote
ST-3-1 Shortbow
Missile Size: 3 MSP  (0.15 HS)     Warhead: 4    Armour: 0     Manoeuvre Rating: 12
Speed: 7500 km/s    Engine Endurance: 79 minutes   Range: 35.7m km
Cost Per Missile: 1.3774

Materials Required:    1x Tritanium   0.3774x Gallicite   Fuel x250

Because the new engine prototype will be finished in the next year the Lord decided that only small amount of these missiles will be built for practice and defence purposes.

Colonies in the Solar system:

Earth - 432.26m
Mars - 1.86m, 5 terraformers
Venus - 28 automines
Whipple - 12 automines
Wild - 12 automines
