Are fleet training Admins worth it?
« on: April 16, 2020, 04:16:44 PM »
My ships seem to gain training at a decent rate just from having a 150+ guy at the top General Admin.

While Fuel, Maintenance, and overhauling is not really a big deal, it can lower your fleet's combat readiness and you are currently unable to automate it.

Fleet training lowers combat readiness?
By this are you referring to the fuel use, maintenance degradation, and tactical downside to your fleet being at some random point in the system when you might want it situated somewhere else?
Seems like a balance issue, training from good administration should be pretty slow compared to field work. Though a combination of both should be much better.

More likely DFNewb is referring to fleets losing training when transferred among different commands.  If the combat fleet joins the supply ship fleet, instead of the other way around, they can take a big hit to fleet training for "changing commanders" -- and another big hit for changing back.

By combat readiness I meant deployment time specifically. Ships can't fight in overhaul AFAIK and AFAIK there is no way to cancel overhaul once it starts.

You need to overhaul when using a training admin. Using a Naval or General admin does not require overhauling and while the training seems to be about half the speed I don't have to worry about splitting up my training fleets to ensure there is atleast 1 ready at any time, or constantly micro'ing overhauls.

Slightly unrelated but I notice there seems to be both Crew training and fleet training, what is the difference? All I know is the training per ship is there some sort of fleet training score I am missing?

Don't you need Training commands to get task force training up? That's pretty important.

You don't, they get training automatically from the General Admin command and the commanders of the ships.

All my survey ships reach 100 percent training after a few years in service for example.

Few years is quite a lot compared to month or so with fleet training

It's definitely longer than a month, from my experiences fleet training is about twice to maybe 2.5 times faster than without it.

I just trained a diplomatic vessel until it exploded. It never left earth.

This is the BEST game.

This is how Humans train our own diplomats.

Yes, you can!! I discovered it yesterday  ;D ;D ;D

Go to the fleet screen, select the ship that is making the overhaul and in the bottom line of buttons it should show one "Leave Overhaul". It is a small little bastard button and it should appear or dissapear depending where are you clicking (the fleet, the ship, the admin command), but it is there :)

tl;dr: https://www.tor.com/2016/10/17/the-answer-to-why-humans-are-so-central-in-star-trek/

(there were TWO diplo ships. The other one got blown up by the Spoiler Bois and its inhabitants eaten...or worse.)
