Current rule -

2.2.7 Formations (Optional Rule)
Fleets may move in formation. A fleet marker is placed on the map in place of the individual ships. Ships in the formation should be placed on a separate sheet showing positioning. This positioning is not revealed to opponents until Tactical Intelligence level 3. The number of ships that are in a fleet are limited by the Command Net level. The scale of the Formation Hex is 100km per hex. Battles should not be fought at this scale. It is only used for formations.

2.2.7.1 Incoming Fire
Incoming fire that is able to be interdicted is subject to point defense of any ships that are linked via Command Net.

To me, this seems to be a rather clunky and not good way of doing it. I'm thinking of excising this section completely from the rules, and leaving the largest formations be Command Nets.
