I would suggest adding a button to specify a race picture for an alien, the same way you can change it for humans. This might be useful for roleplaying purposes. In my case, the reason is even simpler... I seem to get race108.bmp (dreadlocks robot...?) for every other alien race. I don't know if this is due to a bug, or the RNG simply hates me, but I'm sick of it and would like to change the image to something else. I would also like to be able to change Precursors to a picture that actually looks like a robot. (Precursors are the only ones who don't tend to get the robot pic!)
Might as well let us change their flag, too, while you're at it.
