Þórgrímr:
This thread is to announce that my Roman Story, A Test of Wills: Discovery, the first book in the saga is now available in an E-Book format.  8)

As you all know, A Test of Wills began as a story using Aurora to game it out. Well, it has moved beyond that and has grown into a universe all of it's own. Once I get the printed proof I will approve it and then a printed version will be available.

Below is an e-mail our very own Backstab sent me after he had finished his read of the copy I sent him.

I needed an opinion from someone who was not involved with the project, And he fit the bill.  8)

--- Quote ---Ken,

I have finally finished reading your book ..... now for my thoughts.

I like to compare my Mil Sci-Fi writers to (In my opinion anyway) the best ..... John Ringo (1) and the worst Tom Kratman(10) ... where would I place you, most probably in 3rd-4th spot.  If Tom Kratman can sell his dribble, then you should be able to out sell that clown !

The Book itself flowed quite well and to me made sense but to someone unfamiliar with the BTS! universe, they may struggle to understand some of the terminology you use and how things got to where they are ..... my suggestion to fix that would be to include a timeline .... then problem solved !

One thing I do not fully understand is why in 2540 , the UST military is still using conventional 7.62/.50cal  when by that time, caseless ammo would have been perfected to a point where it would be reliable enough for combat conditions ?

Best part of the book .... the interrogation of the Spakona. I expected at one stage to see his head start turning 360o and green pea soup spewing from his mouth !.  And the Atheri ... what game are they playing , that's got me intrigued.

The Worst part of the book ... The end ! IMHO , it finished too suddenly.

Ranking:    9.5/10   A Hymn before battle / Gust Front / When the Devil Dances / Hells Fair
                8.5/10    Starship Troopers (The Book)
                7 / 10    Test of Wills
                6 / 10    Yellow Eyes
                6 / 10     Into the looking glass
                4 / 10     Watch on the Rhine
                2 / 10     Caliphate
--- End quote ---

Grats on your publishing.  I was wondering where the romans went.   Guess when I get some money will have to get the book although my kindle got stolen #$%^#@$.  (last time I read about the romans was  I remeber the space station / asteroids and then you took a break  :'(  I will say books based on Webers model of empires and battles will probally do well because overall I do not find books which cover fleet or squadrons battles very often.   And as with all authors here I enjoy your work.

Then you will enjoy yhe new version! It has changed quite a bit, for the better I might add, since the last time I posted anything for them.  8)

Sorry about the disappearence of the Romans, but I wanted to take them professional.  ;D The printed version should be available in a few weeks. Snail mail is quite slow.  :P

Just finished reading this book on my iPhone Kindle app.  Loved it, I've read all the posts you've done here in Aurora and missed the Terrans and Romans.  My only suggestion is similar to the one by Backstab..some sort of timeline.  From reading your previous posts I had a basic grasp of what was happening, but there are several times I had to sit and think for a minute to figure out what you were referencing.  So someone new to your work might get lost with some of the obscure references.  Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see what happens next.
