Title: unused ships and fuel

Hi,
just a small doubt: do unused ships still consume fuel? Do I need to manually reduce their speed, or it is assumed that ships without orders are not moving at all?

Ships that are not moving don't burn fuel. Unless you have your shield generators turned on in which case you only burn the fuel for them.

I know it was a stupid question, but I saw fuel reserves going down more than expected, so I wanted to confirm this.
