That's all of it then, because wealth is abstract on a race level, not stored in colonies or anything like that.

It's been a long time since I conquered -- or was conquered by -- anyone, but I thought it was the opposite.

Sure, 'Wealth' is abstracted across the empire, and doesn't need to be 'moved' like cargo or fuel, but it is accessable on the colony screen.  I thought you could capture some wealth from any populated colony, or maybe it was capture all of it from the capital, or something.

If you conquer a colony, you will receive wealth equal to: Total Wealth Reserve * (Colony Pop / Total Race Pop)

I've only conquered few NPRs so it must have always been a case of NPR Homeworld and not having any other colonies then.

Yes, that is very likely. NPRs will be establishing a lot more populated colonies in C# so this will become more of a factor.
