I just feel like to inform that if you download now the Dropbox you will get a file archive-ba-a99. zip which contains another archive-ba-a99. zip with archive-ba-a99. exe inside.  This is recognized as malware.  Could be possible the link expired or simply been hacked?

Let me know, my backup copy has been corrupted and cannot download the 710 update anywhere else.

Thanks

Link is most likely expir

The download for 7.10 is fine. It's definitely not anything like 'archive-ba-a99.zip', your browser might be infected ?
I've attached the download for the update below anyway so that you can get it, but I did have no trouble using the original dropbox link

Just "an error"? I do so love generic errors.

I just tried it, and it worked for me.  But since it's my dropbox. . .  Is anyone else having an issue?

I just wanted to post to say "Yay!" :D Thanks for updating the game again Steve, I love what you've created.  I was worried that so much time had passed and things had gotten quite quiet on the forums but this just made me look forward to the new release even more.  I can't wait to see how it has come along.  I haven't played for about 2 years now, partly because I knew how obsessively engrossed I could get in this little known gem and partly because I knew it had so much more potential.  I'm gushing and I've just paused from setting up 'The Vindalooian Empire' for the first time.  I know I'll be happy just with the new bug fixes and optimisations.  Just wanted to show my appreciation your continued dedication to such a worthy cause :).

Prophet,
I can't remember the error # but I had a similar thing happen when I updated some time back.  I think there was a solution after searching for the error exhaustively on the forums and web in general.  Wish I could help more, but with the new update there should be more people back on the forums to get advice from.

Download works for me.

Cavgunner: clear the cache, that can cure all sorts of mystery errors. Or try a different browser, if you haven't already.

this is worded inaccurately
That is because here I was going for speed, and all of these are covered in detail on the wiki install page.

What you get, what todo, what is the default install folder, an alternative folder recommendation etc.

Only thing not there is the MSSTDFMT. DLL.

2. Extract the update that comes in the 5.54 pack into the install folder.

this is worded inaccurately,  you need to unzip the update that's in the 5.54 pack into the GAME directory (where you told setup to install it to, I suggest telling setup to use C:\Aurora  and then unzipping the update and 7.01 update into c:\Aurora  (personally I would also unzip those 2 zips in another folder and just copy the files, I've had unexpected results when unzipping into a folder with files of the same name).

@GoldenBoy

the .cab and .lst files are used by setup.exe when you run that for the initial install,  once the game is installed you don't need them anymore (though wait on doing anything with them until you have a working game, you may need them again until then)

Got the same error.    I followed all the steps that are in there.

What do I do with the files labeled: Aurora.  CAB and SETUP.  LST? Do I leave them alone because I did?

I downloaded the   Aurora v7. 1 - All-In-One/Portable release

Thanks AcidWeb  ;D
