Star swarm questions
« on: August 27, 2017, 08:34:01 PM »
Today i made my first combat in aurora, i believe i found a star swarm (they release fluid when their ships got hit), i destroyed two fleet with small ships (i destroyed one fleet, then i had to reload my missiles and when i returned i found another fleet), then i attacked a huge ass 60000 tons ship, i lost half of my fleet, is this their mothership? There are still 3 ship with 5000 tons, can i safely return home without expecting to find more ships in that system?

The 60,000 ton ship is the mothership.  Not 100% positive, but I believe the 5000 ton ships are workers, who harvest wrecks to make more ships.

I never got close, I've killed all I saw with missiles.

Soldiers.  They're fast and have mesons.

Heavily.
Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Mommy's have mesons, but since they have massive shields, they can also safely ram without taking permanent damage.

If you can, scout carefully with some sacrificial fast ship to gauge their exact range.  That will help you a lot on the ship design and tactics.

Personally..am really HATE "sacrifice" every ships/crew. Not Roleplaying, not real.

Better another tactic-.

Fast attack craft with shields. The "Sacrifice" doesn't need to die in order to be helpful. Fire a few rounds at their shields to see what their recharge rate is like. It will save you a lot of hassel down the road.

True knowledge is only aquired trough loss and sufering. how else would you find out how fast they can kill your ships?
To beam, or not to beam.   That is the question
the answer is you beam. and you better beam hard.
