Terran Empire - Part Eight (January 6 2046-January 5-2047)

A/N:  Next update will be different from the norm, more of a news report, and I'll post the galactic map with it.  Also, I'll say it in the OOC thread too, but I'll start taking cameos, though not quite sure specifics yet.

January 15th 2046:  Lacaille 8760 II sets the record for minerals.  It has nearly a quarter BILLION duranium along with other minerals in slightly less quantities.  All are hard to reach through the planet's crust, though.  A conference is planned for early 2047 to set a solid direction for colonization efforts, now that the number of known worlds is extending into the double digits.  In the mean time, the system scans continue to come in with similar results.

March 13th 2046:  Outreach taskgroup begins surveys in EZ Aquarii after finishing up in Lacaille 8760.

March 15th 2046:  A new jump point found in Sol, practicaly in Pluto's orbit.  The TES Marco Polo recalled from the barren and uneventful Epsilon Eridani system for immediate survey.

March 29th 2046:  A jump point is found in the Ross 248 system only 200 M km from the Sol jump.

April 4th 2046:  The new Ross 248 jump point leads to TZ Arietis, an uninteresting large red dwarf with three gas giants and an asteroid belt.

April 19th 2046:  Early scans of EZ Aquarii yield high minerals in many bodies, especially those in high demand,  with good accessibility.  Also a new colonization prospect is found.  The sixth moon of the sixth planet, a gas giant, has a lion's share of the resources and *could* be terraformed with effort.  It's the right size, but it's atmosphere is hydrogen.  The temperature range is too much to ever move past domed cities, but the cost of maintaining an outpost could be brought down to make it worth while.

May 9th 2046:  In a grand ceremony, the TES Toronto and the TES Agincourt launched into Earth Orbit.  They are useless without a sensor ship completed yet, though.

July 18th 2046:  The mineral record is broken yet again.   However, Ross 248 I is a planet with 4G gravity, and the accessibility is rather low...

July 19th 2046:  A seventh Jump point is found in Sol.  It is the same distance out as the last, but 60 degrees away.

July 30th 2046:  With the survey of Ross 248 II, the system officially becomes the best candidate for expansion.  It has even more minerals then the first planet, and they're slightly easier to reach.  Saying the planet is less inhospitable then the first is an understatement, as it's already a top pick for human habitation, though not the very best.  While the crew who makes the discovery can't pause for celebration, several people back home in the resource department do head out for a night on the town.

September 24th 2046:  The army continues to reorganize.  Command is more centralized under newly promoted Major General Ricardo Pechar, a supporter of the Militarists.

October 2nd 2046:  Exploration of one of Sol's two unexplored jump points find Tau Ceti, a very star that's slightly larger.  Unfortunately nothing orbits it.

October 28th 2046:  Supply of duranium cannot keep up with demand, bringing industry to a halt while the stockpile is regenerated.  Trans-Newtonian technology is now integrated into daily life enough that even some civilians are affected, beyond those in construction.  Dissatisfaction grows with how the TN resource stockpiles are being handled.

November 7th 2046:  The Venus sensor net comes online, able to provide a backup to the facilities on Earth and more closely monitor the innermost jump point.  Five days later the mass driver complex comes online and begins shooting mineral packets back to Earth.

November 21st 2046:  The last Sol jump point is surveyed, finding Lalande 21185, a small red dwarf.  It has seven planets, the out two gas giants.  Interestingly, while not the current best environment, the second planet is VERY good for teraforming, needing only a bit of toxic gas removal and some more oxygen.  TES Marco Polo checks it out immediately and declared it clear.  This date also marks the end of survey efforts in Sol.

January 1st 2047:  The royal wedding occurs on New Years Day.  While now married, if anything, the Imperial Family is now even more dedicated to their tasks, with Emily Chapdelaine taking a much more active role in government.  Many are not quite sure what to make of this development, and some are not very happy that someone was so easily able to move right to the top.  The official title bestowed upon her is also much up for debate.  While she's now called "Empress Emily", there's an unspoken agreement that the title does not carry any inherent power, and that the true crown shall pass to whoever Patrick chooses in his will, as planned.  It's perfectly possible for him to name the Empress as the heir, though.

January 5th 2047:  Elections show the current dissatisfaction with the government rising.  Both factions show a decrease in support, despite the ever expanding senate.  Many independents are elected, and will perhaps form a third faction, based on industry, sometime soon.  (I lost the actual numbers though x.x)
