I just think that building a massive missile base into a mountain range to defend a planet is a cool thing to do

Aurora is too detailed to do real time, you just could not give the game justice to get everything done in a real time fashion. Also next thing if it was real time then we see the dumbing down or automation of the game. Because of the fact you cannot control everything.

HOWEVER is there is to be any realtime, my recommendation is only for the 5 sec tick option, which instead of the current select the number of tick to happen it just is 5 sec on and 5 sec off button, this would work better in this version due to speed improvements and would make battles a little more easier. I never know how many ticks to do and the tick off button is not very responsive when you have more then you wanted ticks and need to turn it off.

And more importantly RTS games are usually about as strategic as a game of hockey

Scrollable windows would do the job and not require things like the reduced height windows,  I would imagine that to be less troublesome in C#

Just fired up a new computer. Main display is 3440 x 1440 and secondary is 2560 x 1440. This is not going to help the quest for laptop play :)

Just remember most common Laptop resolution now is 1366x768

though they will still be too tall for a 768 pixel high display (the most common one nowdays for Laptops)  you will need some sort of Screen Extender program,  there are a few mentioned in various threads here

I was wondering if it would be possible to expand on the rules of electronic warfare. Every race isn't going to be using the same computers, or even the same OS for their computers. I would think there should be a penalty against races whose computing systems are unknown, since while most computers will function exactly the same it will probably interpret data differently than ours.

Though that's not exactly Electronic Warfare as the term is usually used.  EW is usually prevention of Data collection rather than interfering with the data once collected.   What you're really talking about is an expansion of SigInt more than EW,  though that's still a cool idea.

SA Installation / Re: Windows 10?

I'm running it in Windows 10,  no issues (I have the same cutoff windows, but that's nothing to do with windows 10 and everything to do with using a laptop with stupid modern resolutions)

Aurora Rules / Re: Rules Posts

First rule of Aurora,

Don't talk about Aurora!!

Actually there arent really any rules as a rulebook you might expect from a commercial game,  the best way to get your foot in the door would be to check out the FAQ and Tutorial threads on this board, and browse the WIKI when Erik gets it going again
