Title: SA on a USB Drive
Post by: Edsel on May 17, 2007, 11:22:49 AM
I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway.

Is it possible to install SA on a USB drive so that you can take it with you between multiple computers? My guess is no since I think that the install has to make changes in the computer's registery in order to work. If that it true then a new computer wouldn't be able to run SA without having the setup run on it.

Correct, but you can install it to the USB drive and run it after the initial installation has been done.

You have to run the installation program while attached to each computer, but select the installation location as the USB drive the the registry has all the right entries and files.

That's what I feared. There is no problem if I have software on my USB drive at work but under no circumstance are we allowed to install anything on the work computers. That includes not being allowed to do anything that modifies the registry in any way.

Therein lies the rub.
