Ok, i'll use it only against a great number of small number of small short range vessels then.

Automated fire control was implemented for the NPRs and then Steve decided to allow the rest of us to use it with the caveat that it may not work exactly as you think it should.

It does not setup PD missiles correctly, which is why I never use it myself.

for just 2 turrets yea I only needed 1 more, but I put both of them in by habit.

Wouldn't you only need one more PD fire control, then? You could keep one gauss cannon on the main fire control and the other on the PD fire control.  You shouldn't need a second PD fire control unless I'm missing something here. . . .

Complete tangent... why do you have the PD fire control when the main has the same speed?

If I want to split turrets between multiple FCs for point defense rather than needing the range.

My guess is that the PDs are backups. 50%/8k km has horrendous tohits, even in final defensive fire. But they have the virtue of being size 1.

Well guys, first, thanks for the help.

@the deadly shoes: My savior!!! When the automated fire is off, it doesnt revert to none.

It is normal? Because it can be a little annoying, especially since i use automated fire a lot.

@Erik To be able to fire with one turret while defending against missile with another perhaps?

Post a screenshot and we'll help you figure out what you're messing up(while aurora giggles that you didn't set the secondary lateral safeties correctly for amm mode).

These are set for pd mode and I recently had them shoot down 40 missiles automatically for me on final defensive fire.

Are you sure they're actually set to none? It seems the listbox of PD options doesn't default to the currently selected option, but rather to none. Look down in the textbox in the bottom right where your weapon status, current target and PD mode are displayed. It should say the correct value.

I fell for this a few times as well.

Hi, i have a small problem with my "flak" ships.

When i set them on Area defense/Final defense in the "combat assignments" windows, they reset to none after 5s.

Impossible to use them, except manually.  Bug, or i miss something?

Thanks in advance!

Getting the obvious out of the way... You did click "Set Mode"?
