On a whim I started reading the Rigellian Diary.  Bad move.  On page 295 after 5 days and can barely stop to eat or sleep.  Crap, I'm supposed to move this coming weekend too...

Why, it's the 3rd of sandstone of course.

Well crap, last time I checked the calendar it was 9th of Hematite. . .  Anyway, I'm still waiting for the next update post.  I get more excited every time Steve teases us more :P

Something tells me you won't be leaving your computer for a while.  Every time I start a new DF fortress, I forget what day/year it is. . .

I started playing Dwarf Fortress.

Oh hell. . .

Something tells me you won't be leaving your computer for a while.  Every time I start a new DF fortress, I forget what day/year it is. . .  Anyway, I was originally going to just keep exploring 5. 6, since I started playing it around the time 5. 7 was announced, but I decided with the changes to Sol and the new crew morale mechanics (which I cheered loudly when I read about them), I would just play Mass Effect trilogy again.  First biotic character I have tried, and it's better than I expected. . .

Somebody call me when we get a solid release timeframe for 5. 7? I'd be satisfied just knowing if I can expect a birthday present/Christmas present from Steve  ;) (my b-day is November  :P)

I couldn't vote...there was no 'Pondering my navel and how it collects so much lint while twitching out waiting for 5.7'...oh, and 'playing Emperor of the Fading Suns due to not wanting to get stuck in and then having 5.7 come out'...

I'm really looking forward to NA, in the mean time I've capitulated and started another 5.6 game with my first attempt at running two races right from the start. Going pretty well and looking forward to them meeting to see how their very different design strategies might work against each other.

I, for one, look forward to trying NA (and failing horribly) for a bit then building a set of slide rules.  XD

It will be the first time I would have actually had to make a slide rule.  But a fuel tonnage/dry tonnage/delta-v one would be useful, as well as a total delta-v/distance/time one.

I am in pretty much the same boat as Gyrfalcon.
I would _love_ to play NA and I _will_ give it a try but I fear I will die of brain-explosion after less than a couple of hours :)

I wasn't waiting for NA, as I have no intention of playing it if it ever does get released. Without a far greater degree of hand-holding then Aurora is known for, I just don't want to have to deal with Newtonian physics and trying to get fleets into firing range of an enemy and actually manage to hit something. (And then not immediately run out of fuel or shoot out the other side of the star system because I didn't understand the mechanics correctly.)

Quite honestly, I was waiting for NA to the exclusion of all else.
It was tense enough just seeing the features to keep myself busy; I never stuck with a campaign too long, even when I did an AAR for it. Lack of patience and not enough time, I guess.
But when it became clear that NA wouldn't be here anytime soon, or might share the same fate as A2 in that it's probably never being done, this wouldn't be a fair assessment; I will quite possibly start a new game with 5.7.
Still, NA is what I'm really waiting on.

Ah. That makes sense. For some reason I thought NA was going to be like 'Aurora 6.0' or something, not aware that it was a completely stand-alone version. That's why I asked.

NA has no release date even vaguely on the horizon. Waiting for it would be odd unless you never intended to play standard aurora again, as it's a whole different game (it'll be worked on alongside standard aurora and isn't intended to replace it from what I understand).

There should be one in there, "I'm playing 5.6 but will probably lose interest and quit before it finishes and then I'll start another one in a couple weeks and play that one, whether it is 5.6 or 5.7"

Interesting responses... but very surprising there is so little love for NA. I wonder... Is it because there just isn't that much interest in that version or because people expect it to be completed so far down the road, they're not waiting for it for a new campaign?

Everybody's super interested in NA, but the poll option is basically written "I'm never playing Aurora again until NA is released. Then I'll play again." Obviously not many of us agree with that statement. :)
