Title: Error 6
Post by: Adseria on November 08, 2019, 09:46:30 AM
I'm getting an error message whenever I try to create a construction factory order on any population other than my homeworld:

"Error in ReturnDate

Error 6 was generated by Aurora
Overflow
Please report to [bug report thread]"

When I close the error message, it shows me the created order as normal, except the completion date is given as 1st January 2025. I'm going to try running the game with the order going now; I'll edit this post after I find out what happens. For reference, as a test, I'm just going to do a quick, 1 x infrastructure order, to see what happens.

EDIT: The problem seems to have partially solved itself. I made a backup of the game directory so that I didn't lose the save. Then, I went in and created the 1 x infrastructure order, which worked fine. I then went back to trying with construction factories and mines (as I had originally), and I discovered that it works fine, as long as I don't order too many at once.

I suspect that it might have been because I didn't have enough minerals on hand to complete the orders? If so, it would be nice to have an indication that that's the case.

Not the case. You can create orders that require vastly more minerals that you have. The problem here is indicated by the Error Message itself:

ReturnDate and Overflow

I believe the problem is that you have so little construction power at your other colonies AND your production order is so massive, that the completition date is pushed so far back that it goes outside what the database can handle.

Yes, the completion date is after the heat death of the (Aurora) universe.
