View Technology window - Improvements
« on: December 27, 2020, 09:33:07 AM »
I would like to suggest the following feature.
Regarding the 'View Technology' screen.

I would like to have additional columns in the table with:
  • the amount of components in use (in actual ships, including in shipyard)
  • the amount in storage
  • Prototype (yes/no)
This would allow you to have a better idea for which engine to update first (or last).

EDIT: It would be nice if we could delete research prototypes (P, not RP) in this window.

Thanks!

These are good suggestions, I'd add that being able to filter the view to include, exclude or only show prototypes would be very nice.
Also although you can't delete protoypes you can make them obsolete.

You can actually delete prototypes, but the way to do it is a bit arcane.

When you create a prototype component, mechanically what happens is a research project is completed that activates the prototype. This means that you can remove a prototype component by going into the Research window, filtering by Completed projects (radio button in the bottom-right corner), finding the prototype component in the list of completed projects for the associated field, and using the Delete Research button.

Having a button for this in the class design and/or tech summary window(s) would be way more convenient though.
