enemy in system

it shows as a red number 6776/1223, can someone explain this. also, ive killed every enemy ship in system that i can spot and it still shows a red number

That possibly is the danger level. Civilian ships won't enter systems that are classified as dangerous.

More info would be useful to determine exactly what it is.

what more info? there's nothing in the system that i can see. i sent in 120 survey ships, blanketed the system, and nothing was found.

Which window did you see the numbers on and whereabouts on the window? If it was the galactic map (F11) next to a system then those show numbers the danger level of the system and the PPV of any friendly ships in the system. To check, go to the Display Sidebar on the F11 window and switch from Survey to Other at the top of the sidebar. The last option on the sidebar should be "Display Security Status". Try turning that off and see if the numbers disappear.
