--- So I thought it'd be cool after playing Rebel Galaxy for a while to try and re-create a few of the ships in Aurora!
While not the best ships around, I found them to be surprisingly competent... Moreso than anything I've ever built anyway.
Of all the ships in the game, I only built the following in Aurora (so far anyway...): The Arcturus Destroyer, the McKinely Cruiser, the Vanguard Heavy Frigate, the Hammerhead Corvette and the Radovich Freighter. While I wanted to have faithful recreations, I did make some concessions for gameplay, so as to make ships which could be used in an actual game of Aurora without exploding too much. The designs here are from a Conventional Start, and use tech from the Nuclear Pulse Era.
--- As for fleet composition, I've taken the liberty of creating several variants of the Radovich Class which can serve as: a Fuel Tanker, a Jump Tender [for the Vanguard Class Heavy Frigates], a Colony Ship, and a Troop Transport. The Arcturus pulls double duty as a Jump Ship for the McKinely, with a grouping of one Arcturus per three McKinelys. The Arcturs can also have it's Res 1 Active Sensor and EM Passive Sensor removed to fit a Gravitational Survey Sensor if you desire a Gravsurvey variant. The Radovich Jump Tender carries the three Vanguard Heavy Frigates which serve as escort ships to these vessels, as well as shunting around the Fuel Tankers. The Hammerhead Corvettes are cheap PPV, but also serviceable in-system interception craft on account of their speed.
--- Techs used are: High Density Duranium Armour, Damage Control [Arcturus only], Infrared Laser, 10cm [Laser, Carronade, Railgun], 12cm Laser, Capacitor 3 [Hammerhead / Vanguard only], Capacitor 2 [Mckinely / Arcturus only], Gauss RoF / Velocity 1, Nuclear Pulse Engine [w/ Reactor Tech], Active Sensor Strength 10, Beam Fire Control Range 10,000 km, Railgun Velocity 1, Jump Drive Efficiency 4 and 5, Max Squadron Size 3 and 50k Max Jump Distance. I think that's everything sans the racial techs. The use of Capacitor 2 instead of 3 in some of these energy weapons could be seen as contentious, but it was the only way to fit things together for the Jump Drives. I'm currently working on polishing up these ships, as I've just finished the variants which go up to Internal Confinement Tech; so there will probably be an update to this at some point.
