"As many of you know, Prime Minister Wiacek passed away 3 years ago. In the three years of my administration, we have opened up production of ship components to civilian concerns. Our knowledge of the universe around us has grown. And the aliens of Amethyst are now our citizens, admittedly with limited rights. But as they become more integrated into our society, they will have the rights all Confederation citizens enjoy.
"Thanks to the unceasing efforts of the Survey Corps, and the capture of the Amethyst Alliance's astrographic databases, we have knowledge of 100 systems, with 68% of them fully surveyed. In addition, and Earth-like planet in the Gliese-67 system has been discovered. It is distant, being six transits from Sol and four from Gateway. Survey ships will be sent out to fully explore this arm of the galaxy.
"Earth's population is 2.5 billion citizens, with the next highest population being Amethyst with a population of 1.5 billion. Mars has reached 257 million citizens. Novaterra has crested the 100 million mark, and Neue Berlin is just over 50 million. Gateway is just shy of 40 million citizens, and Draco Major is at just over one and a half million citizens. The total number of citizens is just over 4.5 billion.
"The newscasters continue to harangue this administration, like the previous with claims that we are spending more credits than we are bringing in. This is true, but our reserves; built up to a substantial amount during Prime Minister Wiacek's administration has more than enough to out-weigh any current deficit spending.
"Expansion into the planned Draconis sector continues, as does the planning of the Wolf sector based in Wolf 629. Amethyst will be included in the Core sector as soon as sufficient infrastructure expansion to the Core sector HQ is completed.
"On the military side, the Joint Admirals, with my approval have decided to shift destroyer class ships into a system protection role, and keep cruisers, battlecruisers and battleships as the main expeditionary ships.
