Spoilers / Plasma Torpedos

I found a huge ruin, 1006 instalations big. As i was excavating the sites I discovered the tech for PT's...crazy lucky that i got the 4th one and the second to last site recovered. My question though is what fire control do you use with them? In ship design if i add either a missle or a beam fc it says i have none of that type. Is there a tech i'm missing or just a warning that shouldn't be popping up or anther fc i don't know about?

Space News / Possible new planet in our solar system

I have heard of this theory before...a while ago but just saw this article and this seems to be getting closer to proof...still a ways to go though, like actually seeing it.

Would be interesting if there is one. Isn't there supposed to be something late in 2012 about being able to see the through a gap in the kupiter belt and see the Nibiru planet..if it exists? or is that part of the world is ending thing? hmmm

The Academy / fleet position

I'm starting a new game and would like to move my fleets to certian starting locations before I start. Is thereba way to move a fleet short of actually flying it there?

The Academy / Beams and Power Plants

After looking at some ship designs I now think i may have been putting to much power into my beam ships. I was wondering how you guys figure the power required, here is how i do it...although i think now i may be doing it wrong. If I had this

20cm C4 Ultraviolet Laser (4)    Range 320,000km     TS: 4000 km/s     Power 10-4     RM 4    ROF 15        10 10 10 10 8 6 5 5 4 4

I would take the total number of lasers and times it by the first number in the power area...so 10, giving me a needed power of 40. Am I doing this right? Or is there another way i should be doing it?

Mechanics / Conventional start

I was looking at doing a conventional start and remember reading that the NPRs can't handle a conventional start, thus making them useless in a space faring way. So how do you guys go about conventional starts? Do you start a normal game with no tech and then just SM in the conv industry, or is another preferred method i'm missing?

The Academy / Beam Fire Control Range

I'm a bit confused on the BFC range versus what the range of a Laser(other beam weapon) can be. If i max out Beam Fire Control Range i can get it to 175k and then i can up that to 700k at 50% with FC size vers range. So if i understand it then i can shoot a max of 1.4m..bringing my hit to approx 0% chance. I guess what i want to know is, what is the point of having lasers and others that can shot further then 1.4m...ie lasers is like 20m if the actual max to hit anything is 1.4m? Am i missing something?

The Academy / Destroying missles

Well in my current game i accidently set my point defense range wrong, so when missles were launched at me in the Sol system pretty much every AMM ship i had fired. Well i didn't notice it was all my ships in other task groups around the system also firing as i was to focused on the close action, and i let this go on for a while...way to long. Since i have noticed it i want to destroy the missles that won't reach the targets so i can get my effective launchers to fire their PD missles at them...3 per incoming missle.

I know i can go into the Combat overview section and go to the missles tab and destroy a missle at a time, but that will take a long time with thousands of missles. and i don't want to destroy all missles as that will kill my good AMM and my offensive missles. Since i can't shift and click multiple missles and can't get it to order by ship to make it easier going one by one is there a way i can destroy all from certain ships or select more then one?

The Academy / Miltiple Colonies on the Same Planet

First, thanks for a great game.

Now for my question,

 I started a multi nation game on Earth. As part of my own scenario i wanted the countries of Earth to become one. I was looking for ways to do that in game (nonmilitary) and couldn't find any in the Diplomacy section. So i used the the transfer option and transferred all the populations to one group. Yet when I'm in the economics window it still shows 5 different 'colonies' on Earth. I would prefer them merged into one since they are on the same planet and the same race yet I don't see how to do that. I could use the abandon button to get rid of them but i don't want to lose them...pop, industry, etc...just want them made into one.

Is there any options that I'm missing to accomplish this, or is the only way to SM it and then delete the old?
