I have the same issue with my touch screen windows 8.1.

I was wondering though if anyone has tried it with windows 10? Curious if it was fixed for the new windows with touchscreens or if it still persists.

Thank you

Steve,

I'm curious when you do these campaigns do you research components or just the tech and instant the ship component? I have done campaigns both ways but it seems like I always instant something along the line, just to make things fit size wise...oh no room make the active smaller, etc. Just curious as how others do it.

You go into the SM mode and promote some of your guys up a rank or two so you have some captains.

I know to make it realistic and simulate ALL junior officers it would be huge but I am not saying that. I am saying have like 5 positions call them bridge crew and do it like Star Trek. I honestly don't care how an actual navy treats junior officers, I don't even care if I have lower ranks called Ensign, they can be called anything for all I care. The negative replies toward this seem based on "Well this is how the actual navy treats junior officers and that would be unwieldy." I don't want to simulate all junior officers, I want a couple officers that I call a bridge crew that acts like the senior officers on a space ship. That is not something we have in this game right now. What we have is one officer per ship.

I'm agreeing with you, i like the idea alot. Guess me and writing don't get along and my point was missed.

But with this idea there would be jobs for all those junior officers so you would still have enough to make the senior ones. the junior officers could have positions on the ship similiar to the the staff officers or so. A sensor officer, a tactical officer, supply officer, damage control officer, etc...all filled by junior officers. My last command i was stationed with we had 600 people and my CO was Commander, we had 4 LCDR's, and tons of LT's, JG's and Ensigns. you don't need to similate all them but a few others wouldn't be bad and would be nice for something for your junior officers to do, the stats don't even need to matter or count for bonuses like the staff officers, this could be more for a RP thing. As it is now i have them just in fighters or civilian ships as i don't give my big warships to junior officers. And if i don't have fighters it messes up the balance even more.

Just my thoughts on it.

Lots of different options depending on how you want to play it, your style. You could go with energy weapons sitting at their missile range and just pick them off, granted they would need a lot of them. I have also read of people putting commercial freighters(huge tonnage) in their fleet with like 20 armor(or more) and putting an active sensor on it with a ton of CIWS on them. NPRs shoot at either the largest ship or the one with the sensor. So they would use the freighter as a tank to absorb the blows and shoot down what they can while the rest of your fleet does what you want them too, kill the bad guys.

I would suggest making it so that shields require reactors. As it is right now you only need reactors for beam weapons, so potentially you never need them. If it is needed to power the shields more ships will need them...plus, atleast to me, it seems like what would power them.

If you are still looking for something like an up to date tutorial I would recommend watching Alphapiomega's YouTube channel. Can see how he does things and learns on the way and get ideas on the way. His thread can be found in the Aurora chat forum. Also as others have mentioned visit the ship design area and fiction area and you will get some good ideas.

Hope that helps some

It would be nice if in the civilian shipping line tab we could do something like putting a number amount per company for the amount of ships they are allowed to build. Kinda like the government granting them licenses to build them. I'm pretty sure that the government is currently trying to do something similar with granting them permission to do flights and missions now, at least to government places like the space station.

This way we could keep their number down to manageable levels and the government could have some control over those pesky civvies. Not sure how easy it is to code that though.

Great game either way though

It is in all how you use it. Depending on how I RP it I usually use it when starting a game to set things up the way i want. Stuff like adding a ruin on Mars or something to make it a RP element. I have also had games were i didn't want to research designs so after i got a new tech i could design the parts and do the instant research on that part, i have read that alot of people do this. It is almost always on for me though as after i set up my game i typically just leave it on.

I learned by reading Steves NATO vs Soviet Union campaign along with some tutorial info from this website. I have also watched some of Alfapiomega's youtube series and would recommend that for new people getting into the game. His thread for that is http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/topic,6289.0.html

Is the count down timer the same for all nations or can the time be set to different intervals for different nations?
