Ruins have been discovered on Petrina-A IV much like those found in San Francisco. The Teams still in San Francisco will be moved here. Hopefully, these ruins will provide real clues as to who the aliens were and why their cities died under asteroidal bombardment.

Furthermore, the ships damaged in Danwinegar have just finished their repairs. The Navajo and the Survey ship will be updated to the latest designs and the two Spruance class ships will be reloaded with Sparrow Mk IV's and returned to the Blockade Fleet. The usefulness of the lasers on the Spruances were demonstrated rather handily and the fact that they have such limited magazine capability means that there is no room for missile killing missiles. There also is no finalized design for a dedicated fleet anti-missile ship. This means that removing the lasers from the Spruances will minimize even further their ability to defend against missile fire.

On the plus side, a previously undetected warp point to Sol has been found by our eastern survey Fleet. Odd that it should originate in Petrina as well. This has caused some stir as to whether or not this warp point was just missed in the original Sol gravidic survey or if it is a warp point that simply did not exist before. This has dire defense implications.
(Authors note: the appearance of this warp point came as a surprise to me as I do not use the Suspected dormant jump point check box on the galactic map or anywhere else. Steve, any ideas?)

The newest block Spruance will look like this:

As can be readily seen, the defenses are just not up to stopping a 16000km/s missile. Furthermore, there is no significant magazine capacity for an extended missile exchange. It will have to kill its target quickly or not at all. The Admiralty and King Haverty conclude that the Fleet will just have to post a defensive fleet at the worm hole and hope that the aliens in El Paso come to us.

Our construction ship design has been changed and refits have begun.

Quote
Construction Mk III class Construction Ship    9200 tons     850 Crew     1119 BP      Signature 184-600
3260 km/s     Armour 1     Shields 0-0     Sensors 2/0/0/0     Damage Control 0-0

High Resolution Thermal Sensor HRT1-2 (1)     Strength 2     Detect Signature 100: 2m km

On a side note, the Imperium has purchased 50 of our fighter factories for use when their Bengal fighter is finished being researched. They have also purchased 524 Sparrow II missiles for their 2nd design which is meant to be a bomber unit. There after they intend to research the tech required for hanger bays on board ships.

The Republic requested to purchase 1000 tons of Gallicite, but ended up only purchasing 500 tons. We will leave the rest of it on the table, so to speak, if the Imperium needs it. Our own industrial needs are eating our supply on earth very quickly. This is threatening because the Gallicite has been mined out. Fortunately for us and the Imperium, Mars has 280 thousand tons left to be mined and the Sol system has rich sources of it left untapped in the asteroid belt and on several of the moons of the outer planets.

Our King and his chief advisor are now getting older. His majesty is now 73 and Fleet Admiral Marco Braley is now 83 and in poor health. The Kings successor is his eldest daughter, Amelia Ellen Haverty, who is now one of three Senators from the Washington system. Marco's successor is still up in the air, but will likely come from an active fleet duty captain. The Kings oldest child is actually Jonathon Diggory Haverty, who has deliberately taken himself out of the succession. He is enjoying life as a Professor of Biology at the rebuilt San Antonio University System.

More to follow!

The Shei Hin Republic has, naturally, not posted much in the way of specifics on their ships, but some information has been observed, printed in publications, and gained by more devious means.

Alacorn FT: 4

The Queen died from cancer late last night. Her Majesties Funeral Mass will be at Saint Johns Cathedral on the 19th. Senator Amelia Haverty has been recalled from Washington to act in the official capacity as Heir Apparent to the Cabinet. The King is taken with grief and has steadily been isolating himself from day to day Governmental affairs.

The new Fleet jump ship design is as follows:

Quote
Rapier JCA class Jump Cruiser    11000 tons     1030 Crew     2647 BP      Signature 220-720
3272 km/s    JR 4-200     Armour 1     Shields 40-300     Sensors 15/0/0/0     Damage Control 1-2
Magazine 200    Replacement Parts 5

J11000(4-200) Jump Drive     Max Ship Size 11000 tons    Distance 200k km     Squadron Size 4
Ion Engine EE0.8 AR-0 (12)    Power 60    Engine Efficiency 0.80    Armour 0    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 100,000 Litres    Range 49.1 billion km   (173 days at full power)
Gamma R300/20 Shields (20)   Total Fuel Cost  400 Litres per day

Missile Launcher 06-045 (2)    Missile Size 6    Rate of Fire 45
Missile Fire Control S02-060 (1)    Range: 600k km

High Resolution Thermal Sensor HRT5-15 (1)     Strength 15     Detect Signature 100: 15m km

With a construction time of 3.78 years, the Admiralty shouldn't be looking for very many to be produced.

The Hawks in the Senate are looking for an immediate way to attack the aliens in  Danwinegar.  They propose scraping together five jump ships and using them to take 15 warships into Danwinegar at once. However, these ships are currently limited to Enterprises, Hamdon Colliers, and Texaco Fueler ships. All of which are unshielded and cannot defend themselves even with shields. Furthermore, our ships that can be transported this way are only the Spruances and Navajo scout ships.
In order to make up the necessary numbers we will have to raid Frontier Fleet and replace their snagged units with Iowas and refitted Portlands.

Back in early 2069 we finished our geo survey of Petrina and found scattered ruins on both the third and the fourth planet. An Archeological and cybernetics team was dispatched a month later and colonists two months after that. Early this year 15 jump gate components were found and the technology for Armored Fuel Bunkers was extracted from the remains of alien machines. We will extend our Jump Gate network to the Milwaukee system from the Petrina system, a total of four jumps.
The Republic has begun building two new designs. One is 7100 tons and the other is 14400 tons. What they are we don't yet know, but intelligence does not believe that they are freighters, but the designs have large empty spaces in them. They may be the finalized carrier designs that the Republic has been talking about for years.

Our last reinforcements have reached the Blockade Fleet. Our assault will begin on the 12th of January, 2073. It will take that long for the dedicated survey ship in Azdic to return.

We have just recently finished researching Ceramic Composite Armor and have redesigned the following ships. It costs too much to upgrade the warships so from this point on they will be new construction. The cost to upgrade the Enterprises survey ships is still only about half the cost of a new one so their refits will continue.

(Author's note: The battle for the jump point is chaotic and ugly and will be difficult to write up. Aaaand its not done yet. Lots of disabled ships and tactically killed ships. The Kingdom has not shined in this fight. )

Danwinegar JP battle
« Reply #36 on: December 29, 2007, 02:43:31 PM »
12th of  January, 2073

Three assault groups form before the jump point to  Danwinegar. The two Hamdon colliers will each take through 3 Spruances and the Exxon fueler will take through two more Spruances and the Navajo fleet scout.

At exactly 10:00PM the attack commences, but starts off badly. Only the colliers jump. The Exxon jump drive reports a short circuit and refuses to engage. The crew frantically races to find the previously undetected fault.

On the other side, Assault 2 appears 49k from the jump point and Assault 3 appears 5k from the JP. The colliers immediately run for the JP, but only one makes it before the aliens and Kingdom fleets open fire. No fewer then 6 thermal torpedoes hit the collier, destroying multiple engines, a fuel tank and several hits against the jump drive. Ten seconds later she disappears through the JP.
Meanwhile, the trailing alien force of eight ships has shown their colors. Forty missiles in  8 salvoes lash out at 3000km/s at Assault 2.  Our reply is feeble in comparison. Each force launches only fifteen missiles spread across multiple targets. However, our two fleets are moving away from the JP in order to open the range. The alien force directly on the JP is composed of no fewer then ten of their thermal torpedo armed cruisers. We find out that each of then have two lasers as well. This information is carried into Rochester by the second fleeing collier. The Blockade Fleet, composed of all three Spruance Mk VI's currently in the Kingdom fleet, is ordered to follow Assault 1 through the JP. Meanwhile, the Enterprise survey ship has moved up to replace the Exxon. Its jump drive was still working as of 2 days ago when she jumped into this system. It should still work now. The situation looked grim as our fleet on the other side was outnumbers three to one. As our ships did not have shields and theirs did, it just put us at further disadvantage in a point blank exchange of fire. Assault 3 took damage spread out over mainly engines and an occasional crew quarters.
Our Sparrow ASM were 2000km/s faster and thus struck first blood. The alien cruisers on the JP shot down 2 missiles and suffered only 5 hits spread across 3 ships from the remaining missiles. Mostly shields were knocked down and one ship showed a loss in engine power.
Meanwhile, the massive missile strike aimed at Assault 2 is in range of the PD of both assault forces. Twelve lasers fire as one and kill 9 missiles. Captain Erastor, in charge of Assault 2 , estimates that the alien missiles will take another ten to fifteen seconds to catch his ships. More then enough time to whittle them down some more. 10 more missiles are killed before they are amongst his ships. The Barcelona takes three hits and the Augusta takes two. All the other missiles miss. The enemy missiles spend their energy on mainly engines, one of the Barcelona's two magazines and two of her launchers.
Our fleets continue to try to open the range, but the enemy cruisers follow us off of the JP at 1401 km/s. With only a 265 km/s speed advantage it was going to take a while to open the distance enough to get out of their range. Rear Admiral Aretha Kurz, commander of  Assault 3 and in control of the overall assault, orders both assault fleets to fire on the enemy thermal cruisers as they pose the most dire threat. The enemy missile cruisers are firing slow missiles that are extremely vulnerable to PD.
Twenty five seconds after the first thermal torpedo volley, another one lashes out at Assault 3. Out of 24 fired, only seven hit, none doing critical damage.
Finally, Assault 1 appears at the JP. The Enterprise immediately jumps back out. Near point blank missile launches destroys two enemy cruisers outright. Assault 1 immediately heads away from the JP in order to open the range.
The aliens ignore the newcomers to fire again, but this time only at the Atlanta. She losses three missile launchers, both lasers, and her magazines. Our reply is scattered across the pursuing cruisers. None of the missile volleys are able to hit with more then two missiles each and mostly it just knocks down shields and inflicts minor internal damage. Two of the enemy cruisers do register a reduction in speed.
Ten seconds later, the remaining warships in Rochester appear at the JP in defiance to orders. They were to make sure that if the attack had failed the JP would be blocked on the other side. All three Spruances fire at the cruisers pursuing Assault 3. It takes 10 seconds for the missiles to reach the cruisers. Of the fifteen missiles, only 5 hit. Four on one cruiser and one on another. Incredibly, the enemy cruiser survives. Her Engines have obviously taken dreadful damage as she is only moving at 627 Km/s and her speed is falling. She may have had her fuel destroyed as well. The other cruiser has the last of the shields stripped away and may have taken internal damage.

At this point, the newly arrived Assault 1 is pacing itself to be 80,000 km away from the action, but still well within missile distance. All units are given orders to focus on the enemies thermal torpedo cruisers as these ships have by far done the most damage.
While the cruisers are recharging, most of the Spruance are able to launch another volley. More then half the missiles miss and another four are killed by enemy PD. That left some ten hits spread out over seven targets. After the series of rapid explosions, several of the cruisers have reduced shields and three more are now starting to trail behind the main formation. Thermal torpedoes lance out from all the cruisers except one of the trailing ones that had just been hit. While most miss, another Spruance (the Barcelona) takes yet more hits taking out her engineering section, a crew quarters, her thermal sensors, and her remaining magazine. She is out of the fight and breaks off by moving away at a 45 degree angle. At about this point the Blockade Fleet opens up on the trailing fleet of enemy missile cruisers. Two of the Blockade Fleets three Spruances carry the Sparrow Mk IV. With a speed of 8,000 km/s the missiles prove to be impossible for the enemies PD to kill. The much slower Mk III's that are trailing behind lose two to PD and one misses. As the missiles had been spread amongst three different missile cruisers, they did not achieve any kills. Though the two which had been hit by the Mk IV's dropped in speed rather noticeably and we stopped receiving missile fire control radars from one of them. The enemies missile cruisers are tougher then we imagined.
Rear Admiral Aretha Kurz is furious. The Blockade Fleet had disobeyed his orders by firing on the enemy missile cruisers instead of the ships pounding Assault 2. He contacts Captain Michaelson on the Basra and orders him to stand down and to cede the bridge to his XO.  Captain Michaelson told him that Blockade Fleet was not under the Rear Admirals command per the High Admirals orders and would the Rear Admiral focus on the more important matters going on here. Like the enemy ships. This does not go down well. Without another word the Rear Admiral flicks off his transmission and proceeds to fight without including the Blockade Fleet in his orders.

The ships of all the Assault units start to head to one point in space to merge their individual units into one mass force that could coordinate its targets and its massed point defense much easier. The enemy thermal cruisers only get off one more massed thermal torpedo volley before concentrated missile volleys start turning them into rapidly spinning collections of debris and life pods. Shortly thereafter the remaining enemy ships ran for their home world. Most don't make it more then 80,000 km. Six minutes and 30 seconds after the beginning of the JP assault, the jump point is clear of enemy warships and a quick assessment of damages and missile stockpiles is done.

486 crewmen killed of which 67 were from the Hamdon collier which was pounded on when it was trying to make its escape.

Spruance 9, 11, and the Barcelona all took significant damage. Enough to render them back up escorts, maybe. The Barcelona has three missile launchers, but no missile fire control and her PD lasers have been wiped away. She is essentially defenseless as her DC parties struggle to repair what they can.

The Hamdon collier lost 2 of her four magazines and three of her six engines. The loss of the Sparrow MkIII's is dire as the other collier carries only Sparrow MkII's. The Mk III's had a range of 250k km  and the Mk II had a range of 165k km.

The Blockade Fleet has left 27 and 33 Mk IV's and 22 Mk III's.

The Assualt Fleet had a remaining total of 117 Mk III's out of 536 originally loaded.

The damaged collier has 67 Mk III' s remaining and the other collier carries 133 MK II's.

Fortunately, the two of the three damaged Spruances could have their missiles pulled and used to fill the remaining 5 ships, but that still required  335 missiles. We could come close at 317 missiles when we added in all the missiles from the colliers..
This was not thought out very well, thought the Rear Admiral. He could also pulled missiles from the Blockade Fleet, but the fleet would be left with only 3 to four salvos each of the Mk IV's.
The plan had called for them to move on the planet immediately after taking the JP. The severely deplete state of the Assault Fleets munitions made this difficult. It would take almost 6 months for the undamaged collier to make a round trip to Earth and back.  Never mind the damaged collier. There was no shortage of fuel. The Exxon Fleet still had its fuel reserves almost at full. This still left him with several options if he was willing to spend the fuel. Okay. Think it through. We need to know the defenses that the planet has. Load up the Spruances with a  mix of 2's and 3's. We can use the Mk II's for missile defense. This will permit us to have multiple launches against incoming attacks and our PD has proven to be very effective. Alright, we'll doit.
The damaged Spruances would be grouped together with the damaged collier and the undamaged collier would be sent ahead with the information gained from the battle. He would launch a series of probes to see what the aliens had left. The Blockade Fleet would stay and deny the JP to the aliens.

Two hours into the probe a group of ships were detected moving at 1190km/s directly towards the JP. They were roughly 18 million km away. All five contacts were 5250 ton ships. Hardly large enough to be serious threats. But then again, with none of his ships maxed out on missiles and no source of resupply readily available, any engagement could prevent him from achieving an effective probe of the planets defenses. Just as he was making his decision the small alien fleet angled off to the right about thirty degrees'. They would not pass by close enough to force an engagement. The only question now was, were they a threat to the Blockade Fleet? He had not touched their missiles so they would have roughly five salvos each. That would be more then enough.
His own fleet of 5 Spruances and a Navajo were not really out to take the alien planet. He was going see what its defenses were and then go from there. Considering the battle at the JP, the aliens likely had formidable defenses around their world. At least he could force them to spend ordinance on his ships. Every missile they shot would not be available when reinforcements arrived. More alarming was the potential that this was but a colony. Unlikely, but possible. The first contact had seen eleven alien warships and the attack on the JP had seen eighteen warships. Granted, it had taken almost five years to gather the forces to take the jump point. Well, to be fair, it had taken four years to decide to do something about it and another year to move the reinforcements to Rochester.

3 hours later the five ships disappeared off the edge of the sensors. The Blockade Fleet had been warned.
Roughly 2 hours later, the alien planet was now at 1.9 million km and shipboard sensors picked up a fleet in orbit at the alien planet. There were 8 ships of roughly 2850 tons each. This was probably all of a single class and if they were warships, well, it could get dicey.

End part one.

(authors note, much of this is being rebuilt from notes. I can't always get time to play and to write :( , but I do what I can. This is both my longest running campaign and the most interesting of them all. The Kingdom is about to face the reality of logistics and what happens when you have a large fleet and few shipyards for refits. I find that I am quickly getting a low tech and a high tech battle fleet. Hmm, wonder where those system defense ships will come from?)

Five more minutes pass by at an agonizing crawl. The Probe Fleet is now 999k km away from the planet when suddenly the alien fleet leaves orbit directly away from Probe Fleet at 2192 km/s. Sighs of relief echo around the bridge.
30 seconds later,  8  alien missiles suddenly appear on the master plot. The computer marks them as detected at 849k km from the task force. The planet is  still about 990k km away with the missiles detected 141k km from the planet..
One of the Spruances with the Mk II loaded deliberately targets the enemy salvo with the intent to thin the enemy salve before the inner PD engaged it. However the alien salvo burns out at 290k km. from the planet. That gives us plenty of room to close. One  concern is that the alien missiles were moving at 5000km/s. This is as fast as our own missiles and will give our PD difficulties.
The Admiral orders the task force to close to within 300k km.
7 minutes later we have arrived just 10k km outside of their perceived maximum range. The MkIV has a range of 600k km but there are only 60 total insystem and they are eleven hours away. The MkIII has a range of 250k which puts us within their range, but if we wish to attack the planet then we will have to close to within range of their planetary missiles. So be it.
Thirty seconds later at 237k km distance the aliens open fire again. So do we, but we aim at only detected military targets.
25 seconds into flight the Mk II's intercept and kill only one enemy missile. Lots of sweat starts to appear as 7 enemy missiles still bear down on the fleet at 5000km/s.
Five seconds later, another enemy salvo of 8 is launched.
five seconds later, the nearest alien missiles are now 37 k away and the task forces PD blaze forth and kill only four more missiles. Three survive. The PD lasers require ten seconds to recharge. The missiles will hit before then. The Admiral snugs his body webbing and breathes a silent prayer.
Five seconds later three missiles slash into the midst of the fleet and one hits Spruance  012, killing 2 engines.

Twenty seconds later, 20 MkIII's smash into the planet. Just as yet another alien salvo is launched. It will take time to evaluate the damage to the planetary facilities.
Ten seconds later, our side launches. 20 MkII head towards the planet and five MkII missiles lock onto the enemy salvo. All ten PD lasers miss. Whatever ship is being aimed at is in trouble unless most miss.
Five seconds later, the PD missiles all miss, Spruance 012 is hit by 5 of the 8 enemy missiles. She loses all her remaining 3 engines, a magazine, 4 of 5 of her missile launchers, 2 crew quarters, fire control for lasers, 2 engineering sections and damage control. A total of 238 crew lay dead, scattered throughout the ship in compartments turned into abattoirs by flying debris and secondary explosions.

End part two.

The Spruance 012 captain orders abandon ship.
Yet another flight of alien missiles launch from the planet. The Fleets PD engage the previous flight of eight missiles and kill 2 of them. The remaining six missiles flash into the fleet before the PD recycles. Two hit the badly injured Spruance and blow her to little pieces. The other four slash through the expanding ball of plasma and continue on their way into the void. Fortunately, most of the crew made it off.

Twenty seconds later fifteen Sparrows impact the planet again. Seconds pass and the tactical officer announces that the aliens are late firing their next salvo and may not have anymore launchers.  Orders are given to target Ship yards. There was, however, one more salvo en route to attack his fleet. The seconds tick by and the fleet waits to see who the target would be. With the destruction of Spruance 012, the Probe fleets PD was thinned out by two lasers and the fleet was even more vulnerable. The Admiral double checked the tactical comp and breathed a partial sigh of relief. The PD would be able to engage the salvo twice. That would give his ships a good chance to seriously thin out the salvo before it struck.
The bridge was quiet in a way that spoke of everyone holding their breathes as the missile salvo entered the PD range. The PD blazed forth and killed four of the missiles. An unprecedented performance as only eight lasers were active. Spruance 013 had had a breakdown in it fire control and its lasers were out of the battle. Ten agonizing seconds pass by as the PD recharged and Spruance 015 finished cycling its Mk II's to launch for PD. At literally the last second the PD finished charging and shot and the Spruance fired its missiles. The Sparrow Mk II's kill a single missile and the PD lasers then kill the remaining 3 missiles.

Two full 20 missile salvos are launched at the shipyards, knowing that it would be overkill. Tempers are still high about the loss of the Spruance. As it turns out a third salvo of fifteen is launched to finish killing the last shipyard.

Communication is achieved ten days afterwards. They call themselves the Hosbero Commonwealth and were large toothed reptiles with insect like eyes.

The two troop transports arrive two months later with a total of 6 armored divisions and another Survey ship which promptly begins planetary surveys.
The Commonwealth has continued to proceed on its construction agenda during negotiations. Orbital surveillance shows that they have recently repaired several missile sites and were loading them under the cover of darkness. As the intelligence officer noted, darkness was not effective when your opponent could see in the dark. The negotiations went downhill rapidly after that. The Admiral had hoped to not use his troops, but he was left with little choice. The six divisions were dropped on the Capital and savage fighting ensued. With the loss of but one infantry division to our four armored divisions over fifteen days, our savaged formations withdrew to a perimeter in the hills north of the city. The aliens, sensing that they were winning, attacked all out and were bled white in a series of engagements lasting a month. With insufficient  Kingdom troops to hold even a small part of the continent a bargain was struck and the Commonwealth surrendered. Its current leaders would never be able to hold government posts again, but the war was over.

Our Ground Troops have had six additional divisions landed on Danwinegar to back up the two armored divisions that remained after the ugly fighting. The planet has a population of 227 million and is by far our largest out system population. The next largest is Washington A-III at 24.41 million. Granted that they aren't human, but they have expressed little interest in their own remaining government.  In order to ensure that this is their will, we will hold a referendum. The referendum will be overseen by a relatively neutral third party. The Imperium will do so for our ion engine tech, of course. As they are close allies and we have a vested interest in their being able to back us up, the trade has been agreed.

A general update on the state of the Kingdom.
We have explored 137 systems with roughly 40 fully explored.
We have ten colonies spread over 7 systems totaling 929 million people.
The Kingdom has pushed hard to expand our shipyards. Earth has nine, Mars has one, Danwinegar has rebuilt one, and Washington A-III is in the process of building one. Danwinegar will build two more after it finishes its CF production run of 30 CF.
Danwinegar's RL have been used to do secondary research items. 14 RL can only do secondary tech because the main lines are simply too expensive to be researched in a reasonable amount of time. We will be building additional RL on this planet as it has some 50 million population not doing anything worthwhile. It will give them something to do.
Our Earth mineral stockpiles are dropping fast due to rapid construction of facilities and ships. Even worse, we have run out of Neutronium, Boronide, Mercassium, and Gallicite. We will have to expand our automated mining capability to in excess of 400 additional mines to keep up with our construction on earth alone. And, of course, we are using Duranium like there is no tomorrow. We have been having to ship this in from our forty mines on Venus and the mining moon in Washington, but Washington A-II needs the Duranium as well. Washington will have to be much more extensively developed for all our sakes.  This lack of Duranium will drastically slow down our industrial expansion. We will continue to be able to go full bore for another 20 days before we use up our reserves on Mars, Earth and in thirty  more days, Washington A-III. Our treasury has been suffering as well. From a high of 12,000 megacreds as of three years ago, we have 4484 left with a drop of roughly 461 a month.

Our fleet has only increased by a slight margin.

A note about the other polities:

The Imperium has two extra solar colonies, another one on Mars and their capital, Earth with a combined population of  497 million. They have recently added a fourth shipyard in late 2075 and are currently building another. Their Mars colony is working on expanding their RL from 6 to 8 and this will take another year and a half. Their Fleet has decided to focus  on fighter technology and carriers. They simply cannot research fast enough to keep up with us and they lack the construction and population base to compete as well. Therefor they have decided to dedicate themselves to small easily replaceable fighting platforms called fighters and have built 3 carriers for them so far.

The Republic has one extra solar colony in the Zalaf system two jumps from Sol, but they are looking for additional planets that are easily colonized.  They too have decided to focus on fighter tech. They have four carriers built and three more building. This will give them a total of 5 escort carriers and two fleet carriers. A potentially formidable force indeed. A more capable fire control will be researched to counter this threat as soon as possible.
It is interesting to note that the Republic has offered to buy 20 JP gate components for an ?extension? project with an option for 20 more at 1000Mega credits each. It is surprising to note that in another month they will be able to buy the first contract outright and have a little bit left over. Some dark eyes have been cast at our Minister of the Treasury. She was not amused.

Three assault groups form before the jump point to  Danwinegar. The two Hamdon colliers will each take through 3 Spruances and the Exxon fueler will take through two more Spruances and the Navajo fleet scout.

I am just catching up with the write-up. Sounds like an chaotic (but fun) fight.

It was. Nobody jumped into supporting range of each other. Its one of the reasons Haverty took as many casualties as they did. The alien missile ships were only effective with their 1st salvo. The other salvoes had alot of tracking time and several fleets able to target them.

An update on the status of the Kingdom.

The worm hole chains have extended to the point to where several of our inhabited systems sit next to or very near to unsurveyed systems. Included amongst these systems are Danwinegar, New York, and San Fransico. OUr survey assets are being moved to extend the surveyed areas out to three transits minimum. But this will take a while. We have one Enterprise MkII being refitted to the latest design and another MkIV being built, but these ships willnot be available until the 23rd of july 2078 and the 13th of june 2078 respectively.
Our Frontier Fleet and Battle Fleet now consist of modernized ships, but the newly designated Danwinegar Fleet is still mostly made up of its original ships.

Frontier Fleet(SAn Fransico): Fleet speed: 3000
Portland Mk V: 4
Iowa MkIII: 4
Portland Mk IV: 2
Spruance MkVII: 2
Navajo Mk IV: 1

Battle Fleet(Sol):  Fleet speed: 3000
Rapier JCA: 3
Portland Mk V: 1
Iowa Mk III: 1
Spruance Mk VII: 5
Navajo Mk IV: 2

Danwinegar Fleet: Fleet Speed: 1666 (Previously designated Assault Fleet)
Spruance Mk VI: 3
Spruance Mk V: 4
Navajo Mk III: 1
This fleet is slowed down by the Spruance Mk V's.

IN addition to this we have in Sol orbit either waiting to be refitted or refitting:

Portland MkIII: 3 (waiting for refits)
Iowa MkII: (1 refitting)
Texaco MkII: (waiting for refit)
Spruance MkV: 6 (1 is refitting)
Velvet glove Transports: 2 (waiting for refit)

Our Current Shipyard status is a mixed bag.
Sol:
Atmospheric Terraformer: 2 (dueApril 4th and june 7th of 2078)
Enterprise MkIV: 1 (due june 13th of 2078)
Iowa MkIII: 1  (due September 5th 2078)
Texaco MkIII: 2 (due Feb 5th and April 3rd 2078)
All others are refitting.
Mars:
Iowa MkIII: 1(delayed for 6 months because of duranium shortages, due Feb. 10th 2079)
Danwinegar:
Velvet Fist MkII: 1 (due July 29th 2078) This rebuilt yard was used to repair the less damaged ships of the Assualt Fleet.

The 15 captured research labs on Danwinegar are being used to research low cost technologies. We are in the midst of expanding their number of labs and looking at making this a major shipyard center. We will have to add to its single shipyard in order to do this. In the meantime we will focus on CF, mines, and RL.
Both the Imperium and the Republic have made major advances in engine tech and are currently undergoing refits. Our own scientists on Earth are researching the next level of suspected engine tech above ion engines.

More shortly.

Our labs on Danwinegar have recently developed an interesting piece of technology called a tractor beam. This tech was focused upon because of the highly likely event of one of our ships suffering total engine or fuel bunker damage. Without the ability to move the ship to a shipyard, it would have to be left there at the mercy of who ever came by. If we were forced to retreat it would have to be destroyed and its future usefullness lost.

The following design has been drawn up:

Quote
South Carolina Tug class Tug    4150 tons     370 Crew     620 BP      Signature 83-600
7228 km/s     Armour 1     Shields 0-0     Sensors 15/0/0/0     Damage Control 0-0
Tractor Beam     Replacement Parts 5

Ion Engine EE0.8 AR-0 (10)    Power 60    Engine Efficiency 0.80    Armour 0    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 100,000 Litres    Range 130.1 billion km   (208 days at full power)

High Resolution Thermal Sensor HRT5-15 (1)     Strength 15     Detect Signature 100: 15m km

It will be built at the first available shipyard complex. In the meantime our refits will comtinue.

As soon as the Magneto-Plasma drive has been researched, our fleet staff has proposed building a new generation of fast warships and to use the current fleet as system defense fleets.
