Fleet Orders
« on: April 26, 2010, 05:08:18 AM »
Hi Guys

Is there a list or reference anywhere for the fleet orders and how they work. The problem I'm having is micromanaging my survey fleets I'm forever moving them around and deleting the empty task groups.

Can somone give a simple step by step method for combining and detaching then recombining task groups.

I have searched but nothing really answered my question. After playing 20 years in my newbie campaign this is still an area that confuses me and I'm sure others feel the same way.

Thanks.

Mark

Yeah I've seen this thread but it didn't really help much maybe I'll have another read and something might click.

Yeah, it is a hassle.
I recently (see the 5.02 bugs thread) ordered a fleet that was set as it's own subfleet to incorporate all subfleets, and it just vanished without a trace as it ate itself.  :D

Unlikely, as unless you have just the right fleet set-up there aren't enough default & conditional orders to handle it, and repeat/cycle orders can't be modified to send you through the correct jump points.  Which means that the problems you're having are at least partially based on your fleet composition, without which we can't really help you.  What I mean is, I'll say "Do this, this, and this," and you'll come back and say "That didn't work."

Anyway, I assume you've tried:

Move to Jump Point X
Transit Jump Point X
Separate into single ships

Default order 1:  Survey nearest/next 1/3/5 whatevers
Default order 2:  Combine with parent fleet

Conditional 1:  refuel at nearest tanker
