The game crashing part is the issue.

possibly one theres a way to make really tiny missiles and launchers aswell without making the AM FC freak out^^.

As far as I know, theres a way to change the database to allow that, maybe ask rathos how he did it?
Prone to crash your game.

Speaking of standard missiles, is there an IRL measurement behind the 'strength" of warheads? Also, would it be possible to allow missiles to be built that are larger than size 100, just so we can have super ultra doom missiles that can release hundreds of submunitions and wipe out all life in the inner solar system? (Yes, this would be ridiculously powerful, but designing the launcher and missile itself should be prohibitively expensive, and not an economical solution. However, making things like this possible should be allowed, because they're awesome, and definitely lulz-worthy)  :D

Yay!   [/size]
(Honestly, then what do laser warheads do currently?)
These have been in the game for a while but I don't ever remember testing them or using them :). They are supposed to produce one or more laser attacks rather than a single warhead. I need to spend some time looking at alternative warheads in general.

Yes, this all has been suggested before.
The main problem is that at the speeds in this game, a ton of matter probably has way more punch than a strength 100 warhead, IF there was momentum.

As the technobabble goes for "Space-Time Bending Warp generators" in that respect, the missiles don't actually have any speed, and as such, this wouldn't happen.
What would be possible would be an armor penetrating missile, sort of like a HEAT charge, that deals less damage and has a lower to hit chance in turn for higher armor penetration.
Yes, that's a good idea. Added to the list!

I like the idea of kinetic kill missiles. Rather than a warhead, a solid chunk of metal would be the cargo, and higher speeds would improve damage potential. The damage profile should probably be fairly high, and similar in shape to railgun hits. Another possible research project could be armor piercing penetrators with a much deeper damage profile.

Some of this has probably been suggested before, sorry in advance for any repetition.
