Wiki update
« on: January 04, 2018, 12:34:18 PM »
As a lot of new mechanics or full rework of those is coming in C# Aurora current wiki will lose a lot of information.
Is there a plan to do full update once C# version is released? It will be very confusing to new players to start with old wiki.

The dwarf fortress wiki (hxxp: dwarffortresswiki. org) used to use namespaces to distinguish between different versions of the game, but used the mainnamespace for versions 0. 40 to 0. 44.
As far as I remember, moving all relevant pages from the main namespace to the new namespace was much work (or had to be done by script) and took a while.

Maybe it is easier to create a new namespace for Aurora C# and create the new pages directly in that namespace.

The work of updating the information in the wiki has to be done by us (the community).  That's what wikis are for in the first place.
But I don't know if we should start now with updating the wiki for Aurora C# or wait till the first version is released, as we only have limited
information,  that can/will changes before the release.

Easiest way to update it would probably be to just go through Steves change list one post at a time and update relevant page/pages.

+1

maybe to just copy the new mechanics/changes in an extra paragraph at the end of the actual pages which are relevant as "future C# Mechanics", leave the actual text untouched.. if C# is released copy the new/changed mechanics in the main text and copy the old/outdated stuff below as "old VB mechanics" for the players to read which want to stay with VB for a reason unknown...
